I had this problem. Don't know what you've tried so far but getting rid of the Sig.bin from C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic then using Impulse to Re-activate the game got it running for me. Whether that was just dumb luck or not, I couldn't tell you, might be worth trying though if you haven't already.

@Brad Wow the whining is finally getting to you eh... So you don't have infinite patience after all. Can't say that I blame you. In the game I played I had so much gold I didn't know what to do with it all. I had 5 cities, an income of 50+ gold per turn and 90% of that income game from one city (Level 4, Specialized in Gold production with lots of gold bonus improvements and 2 gold mines.) To me this is a non-issue and a text book case of "grass is gree
This is why the pacing option will exist. I think this is somewhat of a non-issue. People who want a slow epic campaign can set the pacing to "EPIC" (Go figure) and people who want a quick action-packed game can set the pacing to "FAST" (Or whatever) Everybody wins. That being said, insulting someone and calling them a "Kiddie" just because they have different tastes in gaming says volumes about your OWN maturity level. Grow up. Hell there are p
I love how they make it sound like they're doing you a favor... Not that I care one way or the other, I just wish they'd be honest with the fans instead of this PR BS! "Were adding it to steam so you can't steal because we don't trust you *Fake Smile*" I can feel the love in the air... No wait, That's the smell of money.
Wait... Trying to care. Trying to care... Well I failed.
I made a company of elite hatchetmen... The company had 300 Hp, 250 Atk, 110 Def. Everyones talking about ways to increase HP... They already have two ways. First increasing the training of a unit boosts HP, actually... That's ALL higher training does. Secondly grouping units into squads or companies allows them to share HP as well as other stats. Hence elite + company = tons of HP. That is for units. Champions need a better way to increase THEI
@VermillionChaos You lost me... How does that gimp casting sovereigns? If your a casting sovereign you'll have a higher Wisdom anyway to get better spells. Now you can raise one stat and effectively raise three. + Wis = + Ess = + Mana I just don't get where all the casting sovereign hate is coming from. So they can't spam world ending nukes... I don't think that makes them a gimped play style, quite the contrary. I think that if Essence WERE dis
Tch... This must be a joke thread... If not. You are an idiot. And yes... Boxers alone would count as indecent exposure. As for the shallow thing. Personally I think anyone who walks around in nothing but Boxers because their shirt and pants are "itchy" are pretty damn shallow. It sure as hell isn't "Enlightened" behavior.
Don't really know if this is a "Bug" but it IS annoying. I don't like the idea of custom generated Sovereigns being gimp when compared to the standard story sovs. I'm hoping that by the main release everyone will be on a level playing field. As for the heroes I don't mind as much if some are more useful then others... In fact I think that may be intentional since in Adventuring tech you research different levels of champion recruitment. -Recruitm
Well I disagree... On all your points. Sure the Melee sovereign may spend all his essence on stupid crap like farms... Then whats he gonna do when i cast famine on him? Ok, lets say the melee sovereign is great in combat... I don't think any amount of agility is going to bother a fire spell that does damage based on my Int%... Meaning his armor is useless. You keep talking like there is a serious balance issue here and quite frankly I'm just not seeing it. If a
Well the jokes on them... My interest in Civ 5 is less then zero. Elemental... It's preordered. Playing the same old Civ game sure sounds like fun. No wait, no it doesn't. /Sarcasm Oh but I heard you can attack from a distance now!!! Man they're really taking risks! /EndSarcasm
I like the Essence = Mana Cap Idea... It was always intended and it fits perfectly. Now if you want to play a caster sov your faced with a choice. Use an overwhelmingly destructive spell at the cost of your essence, or tone it down and use weaker spells so your mana can regenerate. It doesn't make playing a casting Sov impossible and boring as some have stated, nor does it destroy the purpose of Essence which is made very clear. Essence = Magic. It's that simple. All i
Yeah well... You all look evil to me. Maybe I should smite you with my righteous soul sucking sword of utter disaster and catastrophe... Then I can bathe in the blood of chickens before stomping you into the ground along with your petty philosophical meanderings and anti-empire propaganda. In star wars were all told that the Rebellion is good and the Empire is bad. Maybe I see it the other way around. The Empire brought stability and ... So long as no one REBELLED... Peace. Wh
Combat I like combat spells that add tactical options and more indepth gameplay so that's what I'll be suggesting. Some of this is copied from another of my posts... Some of it is original. Walking Bomb - Create a humanoid of pure flame that can be moved and blows up when destroyed or at the casters will. Ta
Your magic could definitely use some magic... A little creativity would be nice with the spells, I'd rather have spells that allow subtle control over the flow of battle then 15 different ways to do direct damage. The strategic spells arn't bad, but your tactical spells need serious inspiration. Spells shouldn't just be "Hey, I'm gonna blast that guy with Ice... Nah Fire... Wait Darkness!!" It should be about controlling the flow of combat, attempting to force your enemy to dance to y
Scaling is lame and breaks immersion. I'd rather the units size be fixed so they grow smaller as you zoom out and larger as you zoom in. I hate zooming out to see my mage the size of a small mountain. Tch If you can't keep track of your own units that's just pathetic. Of course options are always best. That way you can keep things hard and rough for a masochist like me or be soft and warm for the cuddle lovers... I'm looking at you whoever is reading this! Ever
Death of your sovereign SHOULD make you cry... Its utterly retarded to think that getting your Sovereign killed (Who represents YOU by the way) should simply result in a minor shrug of the shoulders and a casual Aaah well... Personally I'd have your essence cut in HALF for Sovereign death so stop your whining on that point. It goes without saying that using your Sov in battle should carry risks as well as the obvious reward of spearheading with your most powerful unit. <p
Combat I like combat spells that add tactical options and more indepth gameplay so that's what I'll be suggesting. Fire: Walking Bomb - Create a humanoid of pure flame that can be moved and blows up when destroyed or at the casters will. Fire: Blazing Dash - Caster dashes forward in a straight line, dealing fire damage to any unit he passes. (Caster is capable of running through stacks with this spell, can be used to penetrate defensive li
I like the idea of being able to build an Adventurer academy of sorts that would allow gradual XP gain for any champion in the city. I also like the idea of appointing special positions to certain champions who then gain XP for performing said task. For instance, make a champion the Captain of your city guards he gains XP for being in the City he captains. Make a champion the leader of your Honor guard and he gains XP for being in the same stack/city as your Sov. Your examples are solid. Grea
Graphic whores make me want to puke my brains out. They'll kill the gaming industry if they keep up this Graphics>Gameplay BS. That's why I like stardock. Elemental looks nice and has a ton of potential. Games with less then stellar graphics usually are still good looking enough to convey the story, which is whats most important. Games that look really great, are usually rentals for me, because they lack any REAL depth. It's like the difference between the girl that
I'm glad gardens got nerfed. I could already see the massive.... Garden cities? Yuck.
I think everything is superior to your system as is. All your system represents is a "dumbing down" of the current system. I think if you ask around these forums you'll find not to many people would appreciate it. Simplicity is nice in some things... Not in 4X RPG Strategy games. BTW when you spiel BS like taking on 4 "skilled" opponents in Kendo without trouble... You reveal yourself to be a child. If they were truly "Skilled" you wouldn't be taking on 4 without trouble.
Tch, Waaah waah waaah! I like the idea of controlling the shards = controlling magic. I say keep the system the way it is. You want magic, you better get those shards. Sides, the shards are technically the SOURCE of magic. You as the sovereign are just acting as a focusing device. It makes sense that any significant magic would require control of a shard. Its the lore of the damn game. How would it make sense to just change it to oh now I can use all the magic I want to hell w
Tch.... Nothing pisses me off more then seeing someone scoff at the creative labors of others... It's the behavior of an artless, tactless, unimaginative, fool. Quite frankly its beneath anyone on these forums, or SHOULD be.
Thought I'd bump this, since I love pad152's ideas and think they'd go a long way to making the npcs in Elemental feel like people rather then just tools.
