I hate the way business works... I want to live out in the jungle. It seems ridiculous to have to pay a retail store to sell and make profit on your stuff. That would be like tipping your tax collector. I prefer living in a small world, by myself... Without annoying fools around that I have the urge to kill.

Well I doubt the Sovereign is the one doing the forging... And it makes sense that his blacksmith would have to be paid one way or the other so he can eat, and survive to keep on forging. When you make troops there is a gold cost that could be considered part of the outfitting expenses in other words... Paying the blacksmith. I think if you consider it long enough you'll realize that even with the metal and the forges and the technology its not unreasonable for the Sovereign to have to pay fo

I already knew the beta wouldn't come out this week, so I'm not affected by that news. As for all the extra tidbits... Thanks for the info. Also I think I speak for everyone when I say that new screenshot shows some awesome dynamic shading and superb textures errr... Pixels.

@Naidrev Well see the problem here is that your automatically associating death with evil... It's an easy assumption to make I mean, death, darkness, destruction... Seriously though. Just because they Channel their magic through death and believe in a supremacist mind-set doesn't make them Evil... It just makes them kinda obnoxious and gothic... Like a teenager. That same obnoxious gothic empire could also love kittens and be bloody well kind... Of course the kittens would pro

Stardock is usually very relaxed when it comes to moving your software from one comp to another... I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that downloading the game on one computer and moving it to another was an option. Of course you could always wait for a more official reply, but I'd personally green-light you Stardock tends to be awesome with this sort of thing.

Think I read somewhere you can make such an island and place it in an otherwise randomly generated map. So such an Island wouldn't necessarily be useless.

No offense Luckmann but that kind of DRM has been around for awhile I think, and in the grand scheme of things is a rather minor form of DRM. DRM is happening people, I love Stardock but they are in the minority. Might as well start getting off your comfortable thrones of denial and accept it. Revolting as you may find it.

Bah Bethesda's take isn't as bad as you doomsayers make it out to be... Your all just too set in your ways. I loved Fallout 1 and 2. I also loved fallout 3, though for different reasons. If you can't adapt your destined only for the obscurity of oblivion. Sadly most people on this forum would have and adaptation stat of -1

Well since tact battles arn't in Beta 2... You may have to hold judgment for a little longer then that ; ) Provided your judging the tactical battles as I would deduce from your post.

@TheProgress Hey now I like the Fallout Universe... Those are fighting words!

I loved the TW series Played Shogun, Medieval 1, Rome, Medieval 2... Stopped after that, Apparently its a good thing I did. Personally I loved every TW game I played. So I'm probably going to check Shogun 2 out. Others might not like idea of hero units... But I'm not them. I think it sounds cool! *Edit* @RavenX If they don't have Ninjas... It will be a crime against both Gaming and History.

For the War side of things when he said wars I think he was referring to individual battles... (I could be wrong though) Great ideas btw... I don't really have much to add, like you said it would come down to numbers, Obviously though bonuses would have to cap at some point maybe at +10. For the Civil one I don't like the idea of it being based on cities... Could you code it so that you retain the bonus unless *YOU* declare war. That would solve the problem of other players pl

Although I think the OP's sentiment is kinda silly and old-fashioned. (I've pre-ordered plenty of games but I always do research on them and I've never made a purchase I regret.) I will agree with his view on Stardocks superb customer-relations and game development. Not to mention the trust they show their customers with their DRM... Or lack thereof. Stardock is tied for my favorite Development Studio, right there with Bioware.
Don't worry, the unit groups are not synchronized so that they all move together. There is actually quite a bit of variety between the animations in a group of units. Unfortunately, you can't see that in this particular screenshot. In Brad's video above, you can see how the units look in the game, although I don't think he shows a group of units.
This is good to hear, this alleviates my concern.

Brad said it probably wouldn't make it in the initial release, but that it's something they are definitely looking at. Maybe it'll end up being in one of the major updates post-launch. Fine by me if they don't add it till post launch, just so long as they add it. It's definitely a very cool idea and would add that much more to the already superb customization options. Part of creating ones own "fantasy world" which we've been promised the ability to do. Is to add ones own fantasy races to sai

I'm sure spells will have limited ranges as well not to mention you'll probably have to control several shards in order to use the most powerful spells. I'm sure it won't be as easy as most of you seem to be assuming to just throw a mountain at your enemy. Although I will agree with the counter-spelling Idea. Also Dispel options for global magic seems like a no-brainer to me.

@CrusaderScott Everyone has their own tastes I suppose... I think going with a miniatures feel would simply compromise the validity of the whole living world goal. Personally I feel I've tried to compromise despite going against my personal tastes. In the beginning we were supposed to be getting a Turn-based empire builder with Role-playing elements and real time battles. Now were getting a typical turn-based affair with some RP elements... Whatever no p

@ John_Hughes If I had to guess I'd say it was an uneducated comment referring to Materials... Which I always read as being wood... It is the primary resource for building up the city itself, other then gold and it could be thought of as wood, stone, and other "materials" used for building. I agree that the screen shot looks a tad troubling but then it is just a screen shot. Your not going to get much atmosphere off of it one way or the other. I'll reserve judgm

Enchanted Pork Pies!? Yeah we have those... 10,000 G... What!? You spent all your money on a palace!? GTFO! Seriously though, Shops were pretty much a must for that special RPG flavor.

No offense, but I hate it when anyone mentions a new system "alienating" players... [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e] We live in a gaming age where everyone whines about innovations and originality, yet should you actually try new or different systems that break established norms you get whiners who complain because their brains can't just lie there lifeless and soak it all in... Pathetic.
