Ok, so I was reading the recent dev journal where a few ideas about how to treat soverign death are kicked around, and had a random idea I thought I would throw out there. --Something like this might have been discussed before, but What if all soverigns start the game with some sort of item (for sake of argument, lets call it the Life Relic...or myabe Death Relic for fallen factions). This item stays around with them, and maybe stores a protion of exp and/or essence that the soverign

I think you guys are forgeting that cities take up more than one tile in this game...You won't (or atleast shouldn't) be able to just waltz in and raiz a whole city to the ground in one turn as you can in Civ4. Also, 20-25 is pretty gigantic if those cities are well developed and take up many tiles. Also, while 32 is the max number of factions you can play with, the game only have 8 cannon factions, so when he says that 20-25 is large number of cities, I'm going to assume he means in a game w
-Anyone else excited about this game? As someone who spent way too much time with the bauldars gate games back in the day, to see them come out with a "spiritual" successor is pretty exciting. I'm interested in the whole "playing through your characters origin story" as a game mechanic. I hope the game has deep character development, and isn't just focused on the story...though the story does look impressive. I'm a big fan of other BioWare games like the Kotor games, but again, those were mor
I'm a fan of this game. It's best, as the others have said, with the two expansions. There are also alot of interesting mods for it. When you play, you can pretty much set your own goals, so it's a fun, sandbox - history game. You can "form nations" which is really fun to do (here's an example of what I mean - you can start out as one of the small german principalities, and unite Germany! Or start as England, and unite and form the British Empire). The game also has colonizing, which is fun t
Indeed, in some games bigger just means more complicated, but I don't think this is going to be one of those games. Now, no one is saying you HAVE to play on a masive map with 20+ AI's, but I would like the option. Personally I love huge games like that...It just feels more epic. You could have 16+ players in Civ 4, though it didn't really have big enough maps to be able to take advantage of that. GalCiv 2 had great sized maps on Immense, but it didn't have enough player slots...a combination
I like the sound of this...but....please dear god don't make us wait till January for beta [e digicons]XO[/e] -part of me wants to this game to be as deep as possible on release, and part of me says GIMME, GIMME, GIMME NOW!!!! I think id like to see something like this Beta 1 in August Beta 2 in October/November Beta 3 in May Gamma (private) in July Release in August. --Unless Beta 1 is open beta, th
dear god, I've heard of double posting, but this is like...septuple posting or something like that lol.
Ok, here is something from the July FAQ "The sovereign starts out with say 20 essence points. Each time he levels up, he gets 5 more essence points. The channeler might choose to imbue a hero with 5 essence points to make him into a channeler. Now, that hero goes up N essence points per level too and could in turn imbue other units with essence points." Ok, this seems like something that could potentially be abused...It has been stated before that whenever a unit that
What I really want to know is How extensive will the RPG elements/loot system be? Will the game have dynamic "minor" factions? Are there other way to gain essence besides leveling up? How easy will it be to level up? ----Pretty much any info about the RPG part of the game would be appreciated. We still don't know hardly anything about that part of the game yet.
Ya, I don't know if anyone else will remember this, but a planed feature for Civ 4 was to have a number of dynamic minor factions. Their goal's would not be to win the game, but to survive. For whatever reason that feature got merged/replaced by the barbarian system. ---I think something like that would be very awesome in this game...especially on larger maps. I can even see a mega event where they all merge into one powerful faction...intent on destroying all humand and fallen!!!
It seems obvious that the "1-8" is talking about human players (since it's 1 to 8, and it doesn't since to play with only 1 faction). I hope that 12 is not the max amount of factions though, in SP or MP. Especially on Large maps. I think it would kind of defeat the purpose of maving Huge maps for people on 64 bit systems if you could only have 12 factions...you would spend over half the game without meeting another faction probably lol. It seems like the max amount of factions should scale wi
nah, the 2.43 patch is messed up for both Vist 64 bit, and Win 7 64. The game only runs for a few minutes, and then locks up. I think though it will run for like 40 minutes on Win 7 if you run it in compatibility mode for XP SP3. I've sent in a ticket to stardock support. Here is the link to the offical Sacred 2 technical issues forum. http://forum.sacredeng.ascaron-net.com/forumdisplay.php?f=207 If you haven't updated to 2.43 you should be good though. P.s. That's fun
hmmm...I just bought it a few days ago, but haven't been able to play it yet...the newest patch screwes up the game and it won't work on most 64 systems...I'm hoping impulse will give me a refund if a fix isn't found soon.
Yep, I signed up. I'm pretty jazzed about this game...though it comes out on sept. 1....just a few days before the public beta of Elemental.
yep, Tropico 3 is coming out pretty soon I think. I still play paradise island from time to time. Probably my favorite city builder type game I've ever played. I could never get into Tropico 2 very much...I just could never...EVER make both my pirates, and captives happy lol
Devs....please ignore this and continue working on Elemental [e digicons]O:)[/e]
Awesome!!! Thanks for the update/mini Journal! [e digicons]1*[/e]
Maybe all Human factions using life magic, and all Fallen using death magic is way they can avoid hard coding in a rivalry between the two races. If factions who use life magic inately work against those that use death magic, then you don't have to worry about programing a spesific "hatred of the races", if you will. This would also work better when using custom races and the like, so that the user wouldn't have to worry about moding in rivalries and the like...I also wonder if, on random map
beta can't get here fast enough!
Ok, so what I'm wondering is if the whole "good vs evil" theme that most fanasy settings have has been replaced with "life magic vs death magic". If so, I think it will be quite interesting, as the good vs evil has been pretty played out over the years. If this is indeed the case I'm quite interested to see how the campain plays out. This will presumably be a refreshing change from "-insert name here- is an evil d**k trying to conquer the world" story that SOOO many fantasies have.
Ok, in the recent journal entry, It was stated that all Empires use death magic, and all Kingdoms use life magic. Well that's all well and good, except in an earlier journal it was stated that all Fallen factions are "Empires" and all Human factions are "Kingdoms"...Does this mean that every human faction will use life magic, and every Fallen faction will use death magic? --It's not really a big deal, but it's kind of hard to believe that not one fallen faction has "seen the light", a
Same here Zeh; Spore, second only to MOO3 in hype vs flushability. And the Spore that was released was not even anything that was shown/hyped in the previews/demos (anyone see the Robin Williams promo?).
YESSSS. You have no idea how much I agree with that. MOO3 was absolutely unplayable...even if you cheated like a bi*ch it wasn't worth anthing because the game was so broken. -and Don't get me started on Spore...
Well there is definitely a map that is cannon to the story (one of the journal updates not too long ago)...so it seems odd that there wouldn't be a story for it to be cannon to :). I agree that the "Master Quest" is not a campain, but rather an alternative victoy condition in sandbox mode...though it is possible that you will be following the Master Quest DURING the campain. Assuming they are seperate things, I think it would be cool if the various factions had random Master Quest's in sandbo
Indeed, something that I had always hoped they would add in GalCiv2 was an option to continue playing afte you've won (or lost [e digicons]8(|[/e] ). I remember one game in particular. I was playing as the Yor in an epic war against all organics! When all of a sudden the Thalans won a technological victory (they were weak militarly and fairly average economically, but they had 3 stinking research reasources)...I really wish I could have continued to play, as that war was quite fun, and inter
BLAST!!! I can't believe Demigod pushed back the beta 3 MONTHS....I am sad now...as this also means the game's release date was probably pushed back to Q2 2010... [e digicons]X([/e]
