I'm not saying you should be able to recuit beasts like you can humans. I still think the units should be rare, just not all single soldiers that don't stand out on the battle field. Have a pack of trolls be a single unit. Sure there are a 10-20 of them, but that doesn't mean finding and recruiting that unit can be done easily or would be common place.

For dragons it certaily makes since that there should be only a few in the world, but to say trolls are as "rare" as dragons cheapens the value of dragons in my opnion. I don't know, I just think it would be better if you could recruit like a regiment of Lizardmen, or a clan of Minotaurs or something like that. I suppose I am thinking rigidly as I am u
Well the dragons are sentient, so you could also use diplomacy to get them on your side, rather than a spell of binding. It would be cool if you could bribe some particularly greedy dragons to join your cause!
Well from what I understand the different major faction are going to be very distinct from one another, so it won't be an issue, and from what I gather the various beast races make up "minor" factions in the game...not sure about that though.
/agreed, If they let you ride the dragons that would be incredible lol. From what I gather from the various previews and things regular soldies will be able to ride more things than horses, so It's not hard to imagine they would let the channeler ride a hired dragon....I can't wait for this game!
At the same time though, having those units be SOOOO rare (and most likly, irreplaceable) will end up making people too afraid of loosing that unit that they don't use it that much. It would seem like having just one or two extra-ordinary units will make them not that effective in large battles...thats just my opinion.
Im curious to see if they will play like the other heroes you can hire. If so, in atleast one game I play I want to have a dragon that i've channeled alot of my essence into and make him like...a super dragon or something like that. Who needs an army when you can have a dragon of god like power
Awesome, I really hope we will be able to use other races in our armies...though I read in one of the interviews that the battles would be 99% human vs. Human. I hope they don't stick with that, and add in alot of other races that can be used in your armies. Maybe this is where the custom races bit they mentioned comes in.
I can't preorder just yet, but will soon. I can't wait for this game!
Personly I don't think gun's would ruin the "fantasy" element of the game. If the game implements them much like the Warhmmer universe it would add to the "fantasy" element I think. That being said, I still agree that they probably shouldn't be in the game. The problem...When factoring in the element of the tactical battles. Anyone who has play
First of all, this is my first post on the Elemental forums, so Let me start off by saying that this game sounds amazing. As a huge Fan of the Civilization series, the Total war series, Fantasy games, RPG's in general, and all Stardock games this sounds like a game strait out of my own imagination. I've been hoping someone would make a combination of a Civ stlye game with epic Total War tacticle battles. Then I found out that
