Not a game for me, either. And Firaxis has been in the wait-and-see category for me for quite a while now. Too many disappointing duds over the years. Edit: Huh, had no idea Rebuild 3 was in development. Neat...

Thanks for compiling that list! I'm just starting to play around with photography, so this will really help. I'm in awe of what Lightroom can do for photos I thought were beyond hope, but Photoshop has been too intimidating for me tackle so far. These videos will help me get my feet wet. Prairie dogs are racially superior to all of you.
It's only a criminal act because those in power are strong enough to bribe it into the laws. No interest in debating what should and shouldn't be a law in the first place.

StarLife is more like an empire building game rather than a war oriented game. You have my attention. :) Another difference is that you won't have buildings like other games, you have services. So you essentially have government-funded programs to make things happen? I like it.<span style="fo
I'm familiar enough with the dev's behaviour and track record to stay far, far way until the final game is out and I hear unequivocal praise for it.
Yeah, kinda wish I hadn't seen this thread title. Edit: A good thread title would've been "Awesome CGI from Interstellar"
The complaints about Civ:BE aren't that it's too similar to Civ V, they're about it being poorly designed. It's actually a step backwards from Civ V.
No, not going to rip you apart. I'm genuinely glad you're enjoying it, just wish I was too... [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
Or they need to find the next Soren Johnson or Brian Reynolds (or lure one of those two back). That abomination Zynga devoured them both, though I guess they've both moved on again at this point.
You're advocating committing a criminal act. I'd be surprised if that weren't against the forum rules.
And for the record, I'm not slamming BE because I'm anti-Firaxis and want it to be bad. I'm slamming it because I really wanted it to be good, and it's just not. And now I'm angry at what could've been (and should've been, given the pedigree). Quit phoning it in, Firaxis, you're better than that.
It's already been said, but I'll say it again - Youtube Let's Plays have been one of the greatest gaming boons ever. A single competent Let's Play is more valuable than all the reviews, previews, and forum threads put together. They've saved me a lot of money on games that sounded good in reviews and discussions, but immediately turned me off when I saw them in action.
Yeah, BE is a mess. Even fundamental things like the UI are just atrociously designed, on a level that boggles my mind. They've made basic UI design mistakes that I wouldn't expect even a decent modder to make, leaving me at a loss to explain how it happens at an established company like Firaxis. Beyond that, the game design itself makes serious missteps, like spamming the player with minor choices and quests. Choices are only interesting if they're impor
I don't buy the "none of our business" argument. That's the type of "us" and "them" distinction that has dominated human history and led to these cycles of behaviour in the first place. We need to decide that we're humanity , we're not Country A and Country B, and make the first steps of acting like it. If your next door neighbour is getting murdered, is that none of your business? I'm guessing most of us would call the police not
This reminds me of a thesis that comes back to my brain, again and again as I read reviews of promising, newly released games. The quest for high sales from "good graphics" is holding back the evolution of video gaming, and not just on consoles anymore. I know that visuals are important, but I think players vastly over-reward visual quality to the detriment of their own enjoyment. Indy games that can find g
I can't say enough good things about this game. Apart from a few minor interface nitpicks, it's really my dream game. The combat has just the right amount of depth, as does character development. Plus, I've always been a sucker for post-apocalyptic settings ever since I saw Road Warrior as a kid. Check it out if you want a modern version of an old-school RPG with great turn-based tactical combat.
No interest in AAA first-person story-driven stealth-based dynamic blah-blah-blah action RPGs. The industry seems to crank them out on an assembly line. On the other hand, Wasteland 2 has absolutely blown me away.
Ouch, hadn't heard that. That blows.
with age also comes greater patience and a bit more wisdom
Plus, time just seems to go faster the older you get, so 8 weeks seems like nothing. When I was a kid, that was an eternity. ;)
Yeah, I agree with the criticism of the map in WoM. The best word I can think of is "muddy" to describe it. I would love to merge the graphics of EL with the game mechanics of WoM. I love the graphical design of EL, though I do agree it can be a little cluttered at times. In the end though, a game which is beautiful, polished, bug-free, and well-engineered is worthless to me if the game mechanics don't click for me. I'm willing to put up with all sorts
Not much to add other than agreeing. People think this obsession with consumer electronics is harmless, but everything has a cascade effect. The public's obsession with this nonsense means that's where the big money is. And where the big money is, the talent follows. Meanwhile, industries which are trying to make a real difference in the world are starved for talent because they can't compete with the job offers that the Apples and Facebooks of the world ar
