I finally got the game from Gamestop. Regular edition, yeah... But hopefully I can figure out how to get the printed tech tree. The game is more important to me than the collector box, really.

In the older games, I used to rarely get or see Precursor Rangers appear. After a few games playing Technologists I switched over and put some bonus points on Luck. From then on I'd always get at least 2 lucky rangers per game. After a certain point in the game they're not unbalancing though. They're just a nice addition to my survey team.

Hrm. I remember doing 10 in Galciv1 with Colony ships. You could load billions of people on one colony ship that was low-morale and push them off to a 30+ quality planet where even the max population wouldn't hurt morale. I can't remember how many planets I've had that i've actually hit the 100 billion mark on and couldn't expand them further.

I believe that they cannot then trade them to another civilization, unlike technologies. You trade them then that civ gets the benefit, but you still have exclusive rights to sell it to other civilizations. In GC1, at least... In GC1 one of my strategies was to monopolize as many of those as possible.

Still no game anywhere here. At least 1 of the 2 walmarts locally had a slot on the shelf for it. The situation has gotten worse at Gamestop where they actually said their computer no longer even has any information about the game and offered me a refund on my preorder. I said I would think about it and went to every retailer I had locally. Has

During one beta game I completely dominated half a giant map, leaving the poor Torians with a tiny green pond to play in on the minimap. I felt sorry for them and decided to form an aliance. ZOMG. Big mistake. They proceeded to declare war on every single AI, each of which was easily 5 times more powerful, dragging my sorry arse

This has actually been in the game since GalCiv1. I use it extensively when determining what to research to trade with other races. It's possible what you could do is base it on your relations with that race. Neutral or lower would get no military techs, anything above that you would see most military techs.

Gamestop's website has updated stating its release date will be Feb 27th, which usually means with them that it will be in stores on the 28th. I think I may switch to only getting console games there. PC games are just easier to get online.

The question isn't if Galciv is based on Stargate, It's "Is Stargate based on Galciv." The original Galciv for OS/2 predates the original stargate movie IIRC.

I actually had major problems with survey ships in Galciv 1. While they stayed in auto-survey mode they would frequently ignore when new objects appeared and just sit there. I eventually had to start scanning through manually to find them and start pushing my rangers out to grab them. It'd be nice if this problem wasn't there in GC2.

I tend to like Galciv as a single player game. I do have experience with TBS games that are also multiplayer. Generally they were designed from the ground up to be multiplayer. My favorite example is VGA Planets. The thing about these games though is that they are SUPPOSED to take months. You spend 15-30 minutes a day giving orders to the system then you get the results the next day. Such a thing just wouldn't fit in with the Galciv 2 system design. <b

I already have something like this for connecting Linux to Linux, and using Linux to control a Windows system, but it really doesn't suit my needs. Something where I could use a windows system to control other windows systems and Linux systems as well would be very handy. X2X works when I'm only dealing with my two linux systems, but that seems rare these days. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/sd_com/smiles/Mad.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmi
