Cork_O Thanks for the great Tutorial on archiving. What I had been relying upon was Stardock Central's option to archive programs when updating. So, I tried updating SKS, IP and WB. Archiving both SKS and IP resulted in full files. But when I archived WB, I got the same 1KB zip file which contains absolutely nothing; it's empty. The name of the file is: "WindowBlinds4_4.60.048_08.08.2005.zip". I'm going to guess the reason for this may be du

Odd - that's under the View menu in SKS here. And it just appears as a tab in the pane where the Skin Preview is shown - click on the Analyze tab & it runs the Analyzer & displays right there in that pane. Yep, that's very odd concerning the "Analyze" window/tab. As I mentioned before, I cannot find this el

It is pretty obvious how one can remove archived versions of IconPackager and SkinStudio, but not so obvious in regard to archived versions of WB. Archived IP versions take up a lot of HDD space and so I generally only keep the last good version and remove all previous ones. I'm assuming that archived versions of WB also require a good amount of space and thus I want to delete all but the last "known good working" version too. How can this be done? and

Okay.... here's how my progress has gone thus far. I did find the "Analyze" utility under "Tools/Show analyzer". But to actually see it, I either had to rollup the main SkinStudio window or minimize it when the SkinStudio main window was maximized. (very strange?). I discovered that by double-clicking any of the critical errors I was taken back to the main window to the item that needed correction. A couple were able to be fixed. As for the others, I d

I added some "sounds" to an existing WB skin I have and when I clicked on "Save", I got a message saying that there were some critical errors that needed fixing, etc.... and would I like SkinStudio to do that for me. I clicked, "Yes" and it did it's thing, but then I got another error message which said: "Cannot focus a disabled or invisible window." Since I am barely familiar with SkinStudio, could someone tell me what this means and how I go about re

Sorry for posting here, but I couldn't find a dedicated forum nor even a newsgroup for WindowFX. I enabled the option to use large icons on the Desktop with no text, which worked as expected. However if I reboot, the icons loose their original place and are all lined up in one vertical row on the left of the screen. Is there some setting I'm missing that would retain my desired layout of these icons? If I disable the items in "Desktop icons", repositio

yrag, Okay... the saga has come to a happy end. I decided to totally uninstall IP and start fresh by downloading 3.00a and installing it. It installed without a hitch and no Activation was necessary. Everything works as it should and now I'll update to 3.00b.093 which NOW is newest version available. Evidently, Stardock pulled 3.00c[b].002. Thanks for your patient help!!</f

yrag, Once again, thanks for being so resilent in trying to help out. But I've already done all that (figured it out on my own when I first got the "Can't find Activate.exe" error. So, I copied the file to both "C:\WINDOWS" and "IconPackager". The problem NOW is that each time I run the Activation process, it comes back as "Activation has failed". BTW.... I tried shutting down my Firewall too, even though I have a Rule setup for this process

yrag advised: Go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral and click on 'Restore'. Re-boot and try it again. Hey, thanks for hangin' in there with me on this one. I did what you suggested and ran the "Restore" utility which evidently found a few bad files which it replaced. After rebooting,

If support didn't get back to you yet, what version of SDC do you have installed? Is IP a stand alone or do you have ObjectDesktop? Stardock did get back to me and had me re-register IP. But that didn't change anything. Current installed version of SDC is: 2.10.343 build 95. IP is stan

yrag, Uninstalled IP via SDC, rebooted and reinstalled via SDC (3.00c[b].002). Problem still exists. None of the enhanced features work, e.g., Icon Explorer, manually changing icons, etc. The Validation window pops up but when I run it, validation fails. I've looked at all the "ip.log" files for each backup version and every one of them says: "ERROR" for Serial No.?? Perhaps this is normal? I've not had a problem until now. In IP "Help/About" it clearly says my copy is "Registered"??

Just updated through Stardock Central to 3.00c[b].002 hoping it would resolve the problem of no file icons being changed nor being able to change them manually through the file's Properties/Icon/Change Icon utility. After the update was installed, I rebooted when prompted and was greeted by a BSOD. Rebooted again and no problems getting back to Windows (XP SP-2). So, I loaded another icon package and still the file icons remained the same (various icon

I've also just discovered a problem with some icons not changing, even if I try to do it manually from the file Properties dialog/Icon/Change Icon. Many file icons aren't changing when I switch to another iconpackage either, e.g., .zip, .txt, etc. IP 3.00b .093 I also tried using the "Repair Icons" and Rebuild Icon Cache" from IP's "Settings" and have the "icon cache size" set to 3584 KB. Any advice other than wait for the next bu

I hope it is okay to post a question re: Logon Studio here in this forum since there isn't a dedicated one for it. Here's the problem: I have created a logon screen which is fine with the exception of the bottom panel. What I am wanting is to have the bottom panel not show and the main image in the center panel extend all the way to the bottom of the screen. But, even though I have set the Display to "false", the image to "none", I still get

Thanks Mike...... changed the Toolbar icons with another set I found and liked much better with your destructions. As far as colouring the "G-Pod" Toolbar icons, I'll just have to learn to live with it unless/until someone checks that skin out and finds what is preventing them from being coloured with the rest of the skin.

Mike, Thanks for the speedy reply. 1) Yes, I realize that Dmn-Tweak-R2 doesn't have toolbar icons, but I was under the impression that if a skin didn't have its own toolbar icons and that option, which I mentioned above, was enabled then whatever set was "selected" from the list would be displayed?? If I'm not mistaken, I have quite a number

I noticed there are some skins that only display the default Win XP Toolbar icons even though I have the option: "If a skin has a Toolbar icon set defined use it, otherwise use the icon set selected below" checked. An example would be the recent "Dmn-Tweak-R2" skin, by Jay. Can someone tell my why this problem exists? and what I might do to correct it so the "selected" Toolbar icon set will display? Another Toolbar icon question is in regard

Thanks..... I played around with "saturation" and "luminence" and with most skins they were not functional even if I used the "Force the skin to have the colour . . .". However, I played around further and found that by clicking "Use HSL based colouring", that worked fine. WindowBlinds has some great features, but I must say that the program suffers from the lack of having an adequate Help resource. This is one area I believe Stardock needs to improve

I've been playing around with the "Change Skin Colour" feature in WB and wondered why after I choose a basic color in the color palette, if I move the slider either up or down to change the "hue", "depth" or whatever is the right term, the color always reverts to the solid color first chosen? Is there a way to make the color chosen with the slider stick? THANKS!
