Can anyone advise on the combat 'miss' issue i mentioned in my first post?

Primarily the simplest thing to make things get built more quickly/cheaper/stronger is technology. Technology that will help directly or it may help indirectly by unlocking a city improvement that can be built.... or reveal hidden resources.
There is one word which i have seen used in some older and forgotten games - the word is 'overwatch'. If a unit has movement points left over when its turn ends, it can use the left over movement to perform overwatch actions during the enemy turn - Overwatch actions are triggered by enemy actions during the enemies turn. I have seen games that allow the player to specify what overwatch moves their units should make. Units with movement points left over may have an icon t

Same thing happens once in a while when I move units, right before I click the screen will do a quick scroll or something and I end up clicking somewhere else, and then off the units go... I know what i did wrong then... the resources were inside my influence boarder but outside my view range, so i could not get the tool tip. Next time i will remember to run a unit out before constructing. Any advice on the other issue's?
Hi, i was hoping to get a bit of advice on a couple of things in the campaign? I had one problem with terrain improvements in the game.... my second city expanded its boarder enough to encompass the terrain bonuses near the other city. That other city had no influence boarder? could be a bug? anyway, i improved those terrain bonuses and it said they are 'not connected'. I tried to build houses over to them to connect but it won't allow in that direction? The game has a ve
You can easily some up key elements of various computer games - Some brilliant elements are forgotten these days? The way army combat worked in Civilization Call to power was ingenious - take that and make it turn based and you have the combat system in Elemental! Call to Power also had the duplicate world of outer space which was another brilliant concept but was dropped in Call to Power2 probably because it sucked too much computer power and the AI cannot cope with it (But the AI in any cal

I love a good story, or sometimes, even not such a good one, heh. The reason I made the statement above is that the elemental campaign disabled a lot of the game functions and thus doesn't really "play" like a real game of elemental, so I'd suggest giving the sandbox mode a spin as well.
some further detail about my first experiences with the game... I did notice the city construction options are limited - but i have just spent a couple of months playing Medieval Total War and anyone who knows that game will understand why i might be a little tired of dealing with city improvements for a while!!! Elemental city improvements or lack thereof is kind of 'liberating'. Most other things relating to cities are also limited, the only noteworthy thing being the

It isn't a good representation of what the game is capable of.
I wish i had a dollar for every time i have heard similar to this about a game! hehehe, and then simple minded me always loves the 'crappy' campaign. To tell the truth, I have never disliked a campaign in any game i have ever played except Starcraft, and only because the Starcraft campaign tried to force
Hi all, I played Elemental for the first time last night, I did the campaign up to tracking the refugees. My verdict - The good; It is a good game and yes i can see allot of untapped potential, but untapped potential a bad game does not make! The bad; I'm not sure if my interest in this game will last tho? It does remind me allot of 'Rise of legends' which i would say is a slightly better game than Elemental but Rise of Legends did not hold my interest f
I think Abandonware is a myth. Copyright on old games is the same as nuclear waste, it takes thousands of years to stop being a problem.

Last night i purchased Elemental! Never got to play it tho because my computer began restarting itself half way thru the download (first i had to update Impulse because i haven't used that for a long while - i think my computer did not like that happening). I was scared for a moment, because my computer was restarting instantly upon windows Vista 64 bit home premium opening - even in safe mode! lucky for me windows decided to stay open long enough for me to log in a dis

I was responding to your statement that Elemental had nothing to fear from the impending release of Civilization.
Took me a moment to figure out what you talking about.... but yea, i get your point now! ..... in that case i 'hope' the fact that civ5 is imprisoned on steam will impede its sales because of blah blah (what i said before).
Elemental is "imprisoned" on Impulse (theoretically you can run it without Impulse, but to get updates you have to use it). Steam is evil and Impulse is good?
This is a good point... however, Elemental is created by the same company that created Impulse, and their not out hijacking games from other developers like Steam is. It is Steams capacity to hijack that has me scared.... you know it can only
Quoting Mystikmind, reply 187This is an interesting thread, people talking about the various civ games. Personally i still play civ2 more often than civ3 or civ4. Civ 3 has ranged artillery which for me keeps it interesting enough to play over civ 4. Civ4 has the advanced unit experience development which is a brilliant concept but sadly just doesn't work due to unit attrition that even combat odds in the 90 percentile range cannot save
Oh it has that same crash problem after 100 turns or so carried thru from all the galciv games? Remarkable!! But at least in Galciv you can spot the signs it is nearing a crash, save and restart the game - can you do the same in Elemental? Fightingweasles - yea, you could go that way with the analogy. Some funny posts here... Anyway, so i take it Civ5 will only be released on Steam?? That is rather odd? Surly they know games need on the shelf advertising in stores? Thats how i find half
Going by what people are saying here and also I have been nosing through a number of other threads... seems like there is a general feeling that Elemental might have lifted off the beta runway too soon and attempted to fly without gaining enough airspeed first? Would that be a reasonable analogy?
Thanks for the advice guys, trcanberra, thanks for the heads up on NWN2! Right now i'm in the middle of playing a new DA game- looks like i finally got the game i have been looking for all these years! That is, i managed to get a fairly well balanced game going into the later stages of the game where i am not dominating or bogged down under a huge pile of enem
