There will be an additional round coming up, probably tomorrow to people who bought WOM at retail. I'm looking at people who didn't get the beta and it seems like the issue is that they're going by purchases rather than when they registered the game. Stay tuned.

I just sent a note off to support about this as I just looked and you should have had it added to your account.
I'm not talking about discussing the future mechanics, but for example there are a lot of balance issues right now and with "secrets" we don't know if those are issues that we should talk about or if it's going to fall into line once the secret system is implemented. Same can be said for areas we feel have "holes" in them, if you already plan to fill those holes then there's no point in us pointing them out. This has nothing to do wi

Well, I'd be the one to set the tooltip. I just didn't know there was one to change. Basically, challenging is the same as normal except I have it (and everything above normal) use some nastier (read: CPU intensive) algorithms. This will be more significant later on. Case in point: I say MyArmy->SetDestination(x,y) and right now, there might be very bad things between where it is now and where it wants to go. You'll see the AI do stupid stuff because
Quoting Frogboy, reply 48That level is currently "Challenging". Challenging uses a little more CPU without getting bonuses. Last time I checked (a few minutes ago), the tooltip for that difficulty states: In any case, I would say that the word "Normal" would seem to indicate that logically, should be the difficulty in which the AI does it's best without cheating (FoW, bonuses...). But as long as the to
I will say this brad. I was very skeptical if you guys could turn this around after the debacle that wom was. But so far I am actually having alot of fun with this slipstream build of yours. Believe it or not I haven't logged into the Star Wars The Old Republic the last couple days hardly at all. Basically just long enough to do my daily pvp then back to playing this.
If you're a Sith on Kaas City then I say this: Shame
I think the Challenging AI tooltip needs to be updated then, as it implies that the ai gets bonuses as well as getting full ai smarts.
There's a tool tip?
But having the full unassisted AI in difficulty levels normal and above is an option for the first patch. Whatever the AI we've got at a certain time, we've got to have a mode where the AI is playing the best it can at that time, without any bonuses. So we have a baseline, and we can hopefully help the unassisted AI gets better.
That level is currently "Challenging". Challenging uses a little more CPU without g

This Thursday it'll be extended to everyone who bought WOM before November 1, 2010. It'll be 0.76 which will be a fairly significant update too.
Anyways I have a fairly high end system i7 2600k with 16gb of ram and a GTX 580 video card that has 3GB of video memory.
That's a high end system. That's better than what I've got and I get 60fps (according to fraps) running at 2560x1440. Late game, the performance gets a lot worse (like 20fps) because we haven't yet added in options for simplifying unit drawing which matters when you might have hundreds on screen at once. <
Quoting Frogboy, reply 27Right now, if the game is running well for you that's outstanding. But if it's running slowly, it's not surprising and nothing to sweat because it shouldn't be running that fast for most people. It should, ideally, be running too slow for approximately 50% of the user base. So, does it make sense that people with higher-end cards would be having more pain than those with older ones? Is

Don't worry, my slipstreams won't break your save games. You don't have to start over from scratch unless I explicitly state that it needs to. Personally, if it were my call, I'd not allow loading games within games or starting new games within games, I'd have the player exit out ala BattleField 3. It's just a time sink that could be spent on other things. I am still lobbying for this (yes I know lots of people wouldn't be happy with that but there's a

We are taking great care in terms of performance and memory. One thing that pains me is when people talk about BF3 as if Elemental is somehow dealing with something easier. BF3 maxes out at 64 units in a game world that has a handful of buildings (I love BF3 mind you, I'm just saying that it's not pushing your hardware as much as you may think in the ways you're thinking). Elemental is dealing with hundreds, often thousands of units where each one is different

Personally I'd prefer to see it all go away and just have the game place the city. Let players who want to customize the layout be able to turn it on and such but the default would be to just have no grid or anything but just place the improvement in the queue.
Frogboy, what is the technical reason for loading from within the game and new games from within the game causing major instabilities? Is it to do with not de-allocating memory from all those threads?
There's a whole host of issues that have become problematic, particularly with DirectX 9 games. Much of it comes down to getting the drivers to really REALLY release their memory, particularly on say Windows XP runnin

The main issue has to do with certain perks that give N benefit per level. So you get "Disicpline" and that gives you +1 strength per level and suddenly your champion gets +21 more strength. Same for ones that involve dexterity which makes your champion almost impossible to hit and so on.

On occasion, for those who are feeling daring, I'll be releasing a build off my own machine with some tweaks and changes that haven't been checked into the main project.
