The problem with your point of view as I see it is that for it to be taken seriously it requires that you accept that there has been a global conspiracy among pretty much all climate scientists that has existed for the last 30 years more or less without any real indication except for 3 or 4 emails recently "data mined" from 13 or so years of emails from this so called climategate.
This statement really highlights the basic logical fallacy within the global warming movem
You guys are the ones working on this day in and day out, you certainly should make the game that you want, and you obviously can't handle the harsh criticism when the vast majority give an idea a thumbs down.
I don't think it's a matter of handling "harsh criticism" but your phrase "vast majority" does put into perspective what we're dealing with. A few people commenting is not a meaningful measurement for the support for something. Moreover

I've ready on other forums that people are worried that the super hard core are going to turn Elemental into something "unplayable". I don't think many people here realize how unpleasant it would be to have to go around and re-equip or upgrade units to have frost-resistant armor. Most games only have 1 type of damage protection - armor. Elemental will have 2: mundane and magical. When I play Dragon Age: Origins, and I have a sword that does 3 to 10 damage +
… as long as you ignored the subtle but ever present biases.
Biases tend to be in the eye of the beholder. When RealClimate.org started out, its left-wing ideology was much more on display but it hides it much better now but don't ever think it's some sort of objective source of data. Re MWP. The problem with the hockey stick graph is that it simply tries to hide the MWP. There is nothing remotely resembling a consensus regardin
For the Love of God, Frogboy, how can you say that? No fire spells putting men ablaze, no frost one freezing them, no slingers creating clouds of poison, no nothing? You can't say that when we know you play Dominions. There are no 'party' combat system there, but armies of hundreds against dragons and such just like Elemental will give us. And there's nothing tedious launching your pikeneers boosted with earth magic against lava men radiating heat with fire drakes spiting fireba
I'm sorry to say this, but I've begun to regret pre-ordering the game. Not because I know the game will suck or anything, but because I'm afraid it may, yet I've already paid for it.
Okay, you're right. No more development journals regarding these kinds of discussions because people are reading way too much in. If Master of Magic or HOMM or Age of Wonders or Civilization or Ascendancy or MOO or GalCiv or what have you were anywhere near as complicated in t
So how did you decide from your testing that damage types and not the spell resistance mechanic was the problem?
It has to do with the unit designing. In the actual battles, we can get into very complex wizard duels and that can be fun. But when it comes to actually managing large-scale armies that have been designed over the course of the game, having to micro-manage several different types of damage attacks / damage resistances became very not fun.
I still cannot understand how people can be in denial about global warming. If you don't believe scientists, look at the information for yourself. In ice cores dating back 750,000 years, the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere has never been greater than 280ppm. It is currently 386ppm.
You start out talking about global warming and then talk about CO2. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. Green house gasses trap eat. We all agree on this. That does

This website shows how you can make your own "hockey stick" graph by manipulating the data the same way Mann and all did. http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2009/12/fables-of-the-reconstruction.html Since 1998, when the infamous hockey stick graph came out, people have started paying a lot more attention to world temperatures and a lot m

Re planes. Planes were in those early games because of the memory limit. We don't have that memory limit. 640k is long gone. :) Bigger maps.

I always find it more than a bit obnoxious that those of us who are skeptical about AWG are treated as if we're ignorant or brain washed. Different people have different thresholds of evidence needed to be convinced of something. I find it particularly obnoxious to be compared to the tobacco lobby.
Looking at the project calendar, beta 2 isn't scheduled until January 14th.
My bad. wrong beta date. Beta 1E is scheduled for January 14th. Beta 2 is currently scheduled for February 25th. I'll see if we can open things up a little bit for the end of the year but really, beta 1/2 are NOT designed to be fun in terms of game play but are fun if you want to be part of the molding process.

Yea, if you're looking for it to be remotely interesting, that would likely beta BETA 3 which won't be until this Spring.
I agree with most/all of the above comments. I'm just a bit disappointed that the initial proposal for the sovereign is so basic. MOM is supposedly a major influence on this game and your channeler customization options there are much more varied and interesting (artificer, warlord, spell bonuses, etc). I was looking for something at least as good as that.
Okay guys, let me give a warning here: If journal entries are going to have to be presented in "m
I like Impulse, but let's be honest: This is like arguing about which of the Baha Men's songs was the second-biggest hit after "Who Let the Dogs Out".
I agree. That's the point I was trying to make. The Stardock customer report survey wasn't to go "w00t" Impulse is #2 but rather point out that Steam is not just #1 but number one by a mile and that we all have a lot of work to do if there is going to be viable competition. Continuous turns are turn-based. The difference is that the turn button is held down by default. Baldur's Gate was most certainly turn-based in its combat but, like Elemental, it was continuous turns. It literally used the D&D combat system in which every action used up X number of time units and such. A player can turn off the turns at any time they want in the battle and literally just do it themselves if they want to be the one pressing the turn butt

Next week. I played tonight but there were a few little weird things I saw that didn't make me comfortable sending it out. We've waited this long, a few more days to be really REALLY sure about it is the best course I think.
