It's only bad when consumers ripoff corporations. Its good old free market capitalism when corporations ripoff consumers. Ah ha. Is this REALLY the proper time to be grinding that particular axe? Right after you do the kind of release that is Exhibit A for pirates justifying piracy? Note, that if you had stoo

I should be more specific about spell books: I am not saying that we'd remove all the spell books from character creation but rather the elemental ones specifically. Other spell books, that don't rely on specific elemental shards, would be put in their place.

Well, surly, accusing a moderator of "weasel speak" would probably fall onto the "rude" side of things but I'm not a moderator so what do I know. My general rule of thumb is to treat others as you would have them treat you. Think of them as if they were with you in person.
Aren't we now dealing with the new open and honest Stardock that gives it to us straight up?
Stardock has been open and honest from the beginning (as in 1993). We try to operate

It's pretty easy to make minor factions do more so I'll take your suggestions and do exactly that. Minor factions will focus on building one kick-arse metropolis but they won't expand.

I think, for starters, the first expansion pack for Elemental - Book 2, will have to be given away for free to the people who already bought the game. In my mind, that's a START. So, anyone who sticks with is going to get at least one free expansion pack out of it. And it won't be some piddly "look, it's a new campaign". Think Dark Avatar level expansion.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 87 Stardock will be working on Elemental for years to come. Literally. Let me be specific: Stardock will NOT release a new game next year. It'll all be Elemental related. All Elemental-related, as in...what? Patches? Expansion packs? DLC's? Some of the above? All of the above?
Mostly porn. Think Trog porn.
Brad, I like the concept. But you have a set of mechanics that do not work with each other very well, a graphics engine that's causing a lot of people problems, a magic system that is underwhelming, and an AI that doesn't live up to the billing. You take those away and what's left? Pretty much the setting and the concept. Troy's review makes much the same point. Elemental is a fantastic idea. Is it a fantastic
I think most people would agree that Elemental is a fantastic game -- once you get past the idiotic UI decisions, balance, etc. I'm not sure if this is meant as a joke. Taken seriously... once you get past all the problems, you don't have much of a game left. It's a collection of ideas that don't work as a whole. That's the opposite of a fantastic game.
Obviously, if you don't like the game a

Stop Stop Stop. And I'm not just saying that because it takes like half a minute to load up a page from here. :-) There is a phrase they use in the movie industry "Kill your darlings". The person green lighting a production should NEVER EVER be the one working on said production. Writing AI on GalCiv or helping design the game mechanics on Sins of a Solar Empire kept me at a reasonable distance from the actual GAME. The problem with Elemental was that I am

(I'm up north on vacation typing on an extremely slow connection so bear with me) I don't think people yet fully realize the completeness of Stardock's fail on Elementa's launch. I'm going to write more about this but not only did we think v1.05 was ready for everyone but we felt v1.0 was too. That's the level of disconnect/poor judgment on our part we're talking about. If the game had come out in February, it would still have been a disastrous launch because lack of t

Greetings! I'm pretty far from a good net connection so I'll keep this brief :-) Let me say that I'm glad that most people seem to like the game. This message, however, is for those who are disappointed with Elemental so far. Stardock is not just a game studio but it is also a publisher. What does this mean? Well, historically, the way it works is a game is released and if people don't like it, they're supposed to buy some expansion pack for it

Personally, I love it. I mean walls of text. As long as they're constructive and helpful. For those of you new to Stardock games, this is what we do. We work together with our fellow gamers and keep the game evolving over time. That's why Galactic Civilizations was such a success. Same thing (there's a game that shipped with no campaign, no tutorial, and no tool tips even). Hard core only. There's so much that we can do with Elemental over the next

My 2 cents on ANY game I'm on the fence for: Wait for a demo. $50 is a lot of money and if you're not sure about something, wait for a demo.

We are finding that there's a specific scenario (that we're still investigating) where the game doesn't use the video card's GPU but rather runs purely via software. This is being looked at and investigated and will be addressed shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience.

My biggest problem with the article is the quote he took out of context. Qt3 isn't just some random site. It's my home away from home. And Ben Sones isn't some random forum poster, he's a friend of mine (FB friend and all) and when he called v1.0 an "early beta" I admit, it ticked me off and I snapped back. I shouldn't have said it and I regret saying it, but for PC Gamer to take that comment without any context and put it out there is completely wrong imo. Think how many post

Good thread. However, one correction: Parties work as you are requesting. A party of say knights (4) who have a combined attack of 28 do not roll between 1 and 28. They roll between 1 and 7 for each knight. Assuming each knight does say 3 damage to a unit, that would be 12 damage from that party of knights. If the defending unit has a defense of say 16, that party of knights may not do any damage at all.

Just load up Impulse, and there should be a v1.05 of Elemental available. The precise version of the latest version is 1.05.016 (that's the hot fix).
