Ah yes. Thanks for the reminder. Random House has given us permission to set up a system where people who bought the e-book version can put in their order info and it'll work the same. Initially it'll only work with Amazon and Barnes and Noble but we'll add others as we become aware.

We'd prefer if people stopped attacking things period (except in the game).
There's nothing that a banhammer and forum moderation can't handle. If people overstep their boundary, just nuke them, It should be that simple.
We almost never ban. In fact, we have a "de-voice" (like IRC) feature in our forums that just keeps people from being able to post/comment for awhile. That's what we typically do if a user can't control themselves or thinks that they have a "right" to spew vitriol.
There are 2 sides to every coin. The OP addresses one side -- the overly negative. The other side is the overly positive. Face it, there was (and still is) some sort of froggy cult -- as if he could do no wrong, as if all his decisions were golden. Too often polite and respectful criticisms of the game, especially its release-readiness, were met with resistance just do to the fact that some didn't care for the act of criticizing him and the game.
Don't worry guys. I'm not going anywhere. We're not going anywhere. While it is certainly a huge bummer that Stardock won't be able to do two games at the same time, the flip side is that we can focus on Elemental for a long long time to come. Moreover, the horrible launch does have on silver lining - it liberates us. Not just Stardock but all of us. You, me, the community as a whole to do things with this game that have never been done before and that is, keep evolving the ba
Ok. I'm locking this thread and will back off on making journals for awhile.

Instant review policies of magazines and forums have never adapted to the 2000 era means of production and customer support fixes. They are the ones needing an overhaul and one of the reasons I abandoned subscription based
At this point, I'm thinking the disk version might cause cancer. Install disk, update to latest.
Thanks for the update. Looks as though the changes are primarily going to be restricted to the XML side of the game at this stage for 1.1. Tweaks rather than anything major. Would it be more productive to give feedback on this sort of aspect rather than focussing on larger issues? As an example, should we ask for a new race pre-requisite on top of those already in the XML to enable us to add buildings, techs, units

They're coming.
Going to lock this up. But first, let me tell you guys what I've told our team about review scores: If your game doesn't have massive production values expect to lose 1 point. If you have UI issues or lack some mainstream content (good tutorial, long campaign) expect to lose another point. If your game doesn't have MP you're going to lose 1 point. If your game is unstable, you're going to lose another 1 to 3 points depending on how bad it is.
Glad you're liking it. Over time, we're going to be adding a lot of cool additional features that we hope you'll really like. Here'a a few examples: 1. The magic system is going to get a lot more interesting in terms of spells and how they work. 2. The quests will get a lot more interesting as players are able to start entering dungeons during quests. 3. The AI is going to get a lot better and more sophisticated (i.e. not just more challenging but more
Ok guys. Nothing more good is going to come of this thread. Let's move on.
Can you post your debug.err?
The Age of Wonders series is going to be on Impulse shortly. So players will at least be able to try that out and see how others have approached it.
There's going to be major additions in the 1.x version. The horrible reviews do have a silver lining, we (you guys and us) have the opportunity to do some major good stuff that would normally raise eye brows in a non-sequel.
Guys, Let's focus the blame where it belongs and that is on ONE person: ME. I could list out the sins right here: I violated my long-standing tradition of monitoring the forums and playing the game and instead focused on working on the game directly. If I had spent more time on the forums instead of the compiler, I'd have been convinced of having a public Beta 5 and then likely would have just pushed the date back. Instead of focusing on AI, which is m

I've had to let go many people over the years and as anyone who has ever been in that position can tell you, there is a world of difference between terminating someone and laying them off. With all due respect, Frogboy, this is a bad time to try and use flowery language. Sadly, there is not a "world of difference" - the bottom line is those people are out of a job. The only diff
This seems to contradict what you were saying about "Our income doesn't rely on games" and "The possible poor performance of sales won't affect our work to fix Elemental" (I've obviously paraphrased here). Does this mean that your games studio may shutdown or that things are worse than you alluded to? Will we truly have a fixed Elemental one day or will Stardock end up folding? I'd HATE to see that happen, especially since I absolutely love some

It is true. Elemental's revenue was anticipated to provide the revenue both for our main games team's next project as well as a second team. Unfortunately, that is unlikely to happen so we've had to start laying people off. No one is being fired. None of these people did anything wrong. Stardock is a small company and each person here is truly amongst the best and brightest. So you can imagine how much it sucks for all of us to lay off anyone. We haven't had to lay anyon
