[1.4] Dark shade over areas that typically have normal lighting

I've included two screen shots. Occasionally I see what appears to be something like a dark cloud over areas that are normally bright. It occurs in both strategic and tactical mode. In tactical mode, it makes the units look like shadows, with almost no detail visible.It will go away if I exit to the main menu and then click continue, but a few turns later it will come back.

This has only occurred with 1.4. I haven't changed the lighting settings, and I haven't changed/updated any hardware or drivers.

From the lack of responses, I gather no one else is experiencing this issue.

Given that I haven't changed any settings, drivers or hardware, and given that I am not experiencing graphic issues with other programs on my computer, can someone offer suggestions as to what may be occurring?
