I really enjoy the numbers in the game. In fact I open a spreadsheet and occasionally update it to see my progress with cities and heroes. But once I hit late game there is simply too much going on to be able to continue to stay on top of numbers.
After some thought I've made a few changes. I've made Pioneers cost x5 the population, Heroes take 50% more fame, and Heroes don't divide XP. This should slow down the early game land grab but it still needs some work to really limit city building. I also like the idea of heroes together, just more fun.
Just finished my edits so I haven't got to see the results yet but I'm looking forward to seeing how this works. I did setup a game on a medium map with 11 ai and I just watched them to see how they handled the changes, so far it looks good but a very different play style.
