As a fan of cyberpunk, fantasy, and RPG games, I can't say no to this.

 I love Shadowrun.  I fucking love it.  It was my favorite Pen and Paper RPG as a kid, and I played the Shadowrun games on Sega Genesis and SNES over and over again.  I am so looking forward to this.

You don't need a Demo, the video they made is so fracking epic no fan of single player RPGs should miss this game

Yeah, I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition even though I never buy the deluxe editions of anything.  I guess I really wanted that soundtrack and PDF of short stories.

I'm mildly disappointed.  It's not much of a game.  The game minus the Shadowrun license, would be less than mediocre.  The save system is barbaric.  It's linear is ways I haven't seen for a very long time. I haven't played it for long enough to really get a good opinion on writing or story, but I am not terribly impressed so far.  Pretty much stereotypical, not bad but nothing that impresses.  

I am wondering about the kickstarter funds.  I might be remembering incorrectly. And I am not going to bother looking it up.  But wasn't the initial sum going to be $400K and they got $1.8M?  What the fuck would we have gotten at 400K?  

I might have had my hopes up a bit, and I didn't look into any FAQS about details.  I guess I was looking to get a new game along the lines of the old Genesis game crossed with the SNES game and a few more options in character creation.  

Just not very impressed with this.  I will enjoy it due to it being Shadowrun, and I love Shadowrun...but it's just not a very impressive game.

What particularly annoyed me about the graphics was that there's 1 animation for everything, basically 2 types of spellcasting (offensive/support), 1 melee, 1 pistol, 1 shotgun, 1 smg animation for attacks. There's 1 type of running, just used at different animation speeds. There's one crouch. Really makes the combat look ugly when everyone moves exactly the same. That, and the graphics just aren't very good (textures/models) with visible edges of polygons everywhere.

As for the environments, they look fine but they have two problems. First, they are almost completely static (sometimes there are some neon blinking things). Usually in a 3d game you have things like lightning and other stuff that makes the environment seem more alive. This really makes the characters stand out and look unnatural. And second, the environments are heavily re-used with many areas looking the same over and over.

It's enjoyable but rough around the edges. The checkpoint saving is the worst offender, but I haven't been burned by that yet. Tactical combat is fun, yet as long as you specialize in anything you should be able to win your fights. The campaign is linear, with a couple offshoots for optional side quests. This is a game where I can nitpick about almost everything, yet I keep coming back to play it. Probably because of the nostalgia factor. Plus the joys of running through an insane asylum with a samurai dwarf monk.

I read a comment I think on RPS: "You're not paying for the campaign with this game, you're paying for the toolkit." Apparently there are already 100 hour conversions of the original video game being developed. Ideally the modding community will really make this one shine.

I'll probably still buy it. I did afterall play the Sega version over and over and it was pretty bad

 I enjoyed the game for the money spent on kickstarter, especially with the Berlin DLC being free. I didn't really have too many problems with it besides the sparseness of the levels. Yeah, it would have been nice if it had a bunch more side missions and side areas... but not a big deal. The player/npc models were a bit ugly but the environments looked great. I played in two sessions of six hours each... so I had zero problems with the save system. Unlike most games... I had no reason to reload... I guess its too easy.

The combat was pretty fun, though its not very balanced and I dislike how you are twice as strong as your NPC companions... it just feels wrong.

I am a bit leery of all this hype about the editor... I serious doubt much high quality content will emerge. Look at oblivion/fallout/skyrim... how many big content packs are there? Just a handful really. So we will be lucky if we get more than 2 or 3 quality adventures in the next year or two.

They did say that Berlin would be more open ended... so it will be interesting to see what that means exactly. I think the main reason why the campaign is so linear is budget... it really felt like they were rushed in creating the campaign. If they make enough money off the game then maybe they can make the DLC more fleshed out... but otherwise we need an ambitious modding project which squeezes every ounce from the editor.

I was definitely hoping for more but I am satisfied with what I got. I am certainly curious to compare it to Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity when those come out.

I bought the preorder and from what you folks have been describing i'm already disappointed. Particularly because they got a bit over 1.8 million in pledges. You think they could make a better game with that amount of money.

I've beaten the game twice. Once as a Decker and once as a Mage.  Decker was fucking hardmode, and mage was powerful as shit. But, the campaign is pretty limited. MAybe they will DLC the shit out of it and put out a new campaign every few months.  I would buy another 12 hour one for $5.  I liked it, I do feel that it was worth the $18 I spent, but still a bit disappointed.  I really don't understand why there isn't someone willing to put up some real money to use the Shawdowrun licence to make something great.

I love this game. I already finished the campaign 4 times and I am doing a 5th play through now with a Shaman on Very Hard (I like playing with many different classes in singleplayer RPG games). Since the game is "short" I could finish it with each char instead of get half way only like I normally do and then switch to playing from start with another char

I love turn based combat and there has not been enough of that in a looong time, especially with any complexity (Elemental turn based combat is crap in comparison) so this game is a breath of fresh air. I even started to learn how to use the Editor so I can make my own adventure (I have been DMing pen and paper games for 15 years now and got 101 idea for a story for this game; only need to get over the hurdle or learning how to use the editor )
