I will make a nicer post later, but I just finished the first quest for a series I have been working on. It is a quest that takes place in a massive Labyrinth. It is an epic quest more akin to the hardest wildlands imaginable. This is a very long quest and it all takes place in the space of one tile. You will always be striving to escape. This quest is extremely hard. Bring epic gear. Bring a level 20 hero. Bring an army. The rewards are equally high. Enter at your own risk.
The quest breaks new ground in that you can get lost in it. Healing potions are a good idea. If at some point you are kicked to the strategic map, end turn to get back to the quest. Do not move off the tile! Trust me, it will be bad.
The maze may seem random, but there is a theme to each area and dilemma. The sooner you learn the lessons of the maze, the sooner you will get out. The maze is still being worked on so feel free to give me feedback. If at any point the maze gets predictable or lame, I want to know. I am also curious to see how challenging the baddies are. I keep nerfing them, but they may yet be too strong. I am assuming you are bringing 9 units.
If you lose any battle, you are ejected from the maze and the quest is over. I may add some world spawn of hell demons to make that seem worse than continuing.
To install, click the link below and unzip it. Then put the Labyrinth Data into the Data folder in your mods directory. Put the Labyrinth Medallions into the Gfx folder in your mod directory. Directory is another name for a folder, but it sounds cooler. The quest will have a spawn rating of 50 where most quests have a spawn rating of 400. If you wan to guarantee that it shows up in your game every time, you need to force it to spawn. To do this, go to your game directory. In the data folder, look for ElementalDefs.xml. Open that file and search for "forcespawnquest." Add a new line that says:
<ForceSpawnQuest>Quest_ToO_Labyrinth_001</ForceSpawnQuest>
That will make this spawn in every game. It will be at least 12 tiles from your starting location, so don't expect to see it right away. Look for a swamp forest with a temple long forgotten. That is where things begin. The download link follows:
