One of the items I collected in my travels was a scroll that promised to save me from peril. I quickly found myself in peril and used it. I was expecting the battle to end and my champion's army to return to the nearest city.
The battle ended, the summary screen came up with "Defeat" and the opposing army "died" on the main map. So... um... instant win?
