Personally I'd like to see at least ONE non-human Kingdom, and at least 4 unique races in the fallen (for a total of 5 non-human races), but it appears that we will have to rely on modding for this (which is fine in the long-run, but many people will want to play the stock game, and I personally feel having a limited race selection really limits the possibilities for the game... It's still possible to get an A- in my book, but with more races, it could have gotten an A+)
EDIT: Upon re-reading my post it does sound a bit harsh... The game will be great regardless.... I (and I assume most of the others who have posted similar criticisms) are just trying to provide an idea of what we would like to see, and what we feel will improve the game (and make you more money to invest in the next great game). Obviously your going to do what you feel is best, and in no way do I mean to say "I am right and you are wrong"
Actually, we had this debate a few months ago when they dropped the "Only Humans as playable races" bomb. A lot of us over-reacted (me included) and tensions started running pretty high here on the forums. It took Frogboy to go back and break it down and show us that there are actually a Lot of "Species" in the game, plus playable/recruit-able monsters and magical creatures. Even though it might not "sound like it" in certain explanations there IS going to be quite a bit of variety in what "races" we have in our Empires and Kingdoms especially once you throw in all the monsters we'll be able to recruit. Take Trolls for example. Trolls don't have their own Faction, per say, but they can be drafted into your armies, controlled with magic, maybe even bribed. Trolls aren't the only creature that will work this way either. There's lots of other roaming monsters the player may be able to add to their forces.
Also, the bottom line is, any Race you can possibly think of can be Modded into the game. They may not have included "actual" elves and dwarves and gnomes and such, but we have Human variants that might as well be them. Ironeers are modeled after Dwarves obviously.
With Frogboy clarifying this Tree covers only the Races of Men, I don't think any of us have anything to fear about the Fallen races not showing up, they will just in a different Tree, they aren't removed.
So, just to clarify even further, just because we'll only have Men (Fallen are a different form of Men) as a playable Race that can form a faction, the game won't be limited to just Mankind. We'll have all sorts of Magical beings in our Kingdoms and Empires. Also we'll be able to institute breeding programs to make fantastical races of our own during game-play or we'll be able to easily Mod in the things we may think were left out.
