OMG...this would be expensive to make.  It would have tons of costumes, tons of makeup.  Tons of exotic sets.  Tons of special effects and ships blowing up.  Tons of complicated action sequences that are expensive to shoot.

Even if all the actors were no namers, you would spend a heck of a lot of money on a movie like this....and I don't think most of the general public wants to pay to see an epic Klingon war movie.  That said, it WOULD look pretty cool.

There ARE enough if the movie has appeal to normal people.  Nor sure if a Klingon war epic told in Klingon fits the bill.   I can't even get some of my friends to watch foreign language movies that are excellent, like Pan's Labyrinth.

That drives me nuts too.  I hate how in all Star Trek, whenever there's a pop culture reference from Earth it's always something from the 50's or earlier; movies, cars, books, music, etc.  They act like nothing of quality was ever made past the mid-twentieth century.

I think the rebooted effect of the Star Trek trailer is good for it. I'm not a Trekkie at ALL, in fact I avoid watching Star Trek at any cost, but I have to say, this trailer caught my eye. It wasn't campy or painful like Star Trek has always been, and it's less trippy everything actually makes me sort of want to see it.

It was much the same way with BSG. Original series sucked. Reboot was awesome. Maybe this Trekkie feared movie will actually make more people like Star Trek. Sure it's different, but that doesn't always make it bad, does it?

I would of prefered a new cast in the future as well. Enterprise K or something with brand new technology and the likes. I think that maybe they are keeping that for a future tv series. (I can always hope)

Going back in the past and changing Canon I have nothing agaist it and I am a Dire fan of trek. In TOS canon was not followed during the series itself anyway so it's nto a big deal.

a few things do bother me. Having the flagship in the hands of cadets it very bizarre to say the least. I hope it,s explain in a very good way in the movie. The visuals are way nice. And please stop being bothered about the car in the begining. We still have things from the roman period here and it's been what 2000 years ago. Makes sense to have a few cars still on the road even if it is in the 23rd century.

I for one will be there on opening night. I would not miss it for anything.

PS Enterprise was a great series. You just have to keep an open mind. Season 3 and 4 were just grand. Having a glipse in the vulcan culture was awesome.

It's just that in Enterprise -- the whole Universe seemed sooooo small and limited in distances that it was (to me) a sufficating limit.

I entirely agree with the Xindi saga year though - a long but extremely smart cliff-hanger type of show(s).

I suspect writers & producers had a LOT more to offer to the fans after season 4 but, as they say, some Paramount driven decisions had to be taken.

But if Brian Fuller has its way, we might get a new TV series - one day.

No it wasn't. Season 3 was just as bad as the rest of the show. They were obviously making up the Xindi arc as they went along, and it got more and more ridiculous as the season went on, which is saying a lot seeing as it started out with one giant plot hole. Season 4 is even more overrated. The constant TOS references are apparently intended to mask the fact that, once again, it's no better than the previous seasons.
