Alternate Setting
Isn't the point to enjoy what you're doing while learning, and to be able to communicate that in your work and the way you talk about your art?

The thread I started, being as oversubscribed as it is ;p  I'll bring the theme back here. For me the issue is in resolving the title of the thread to the point where we can feel that Stardock's success in the market, compliments/is complimented by, the work that's put into it's partnership with the community. I don't know why it's framed as an either or thing. A lot of it for me is about making sure communication keeps pace with change. If that's what this t
Already, there's consequences. There will be no ObjectBar 3. It's too expensive to develop and there's too little help from the community to justify the effort versus the revenue it generates. DesktopX barely is surviving and only because Stardock uses it so heavily internally. DeskScapes has been delayed because even though it's in beta, the reports we get are so sketchy and few in number that we don't dare make a general release of it.
I had hoped given that consequen
Alternate Setting, I like your style of conversation. It's extremely difficult to be part of the solution to a problem if you didn't know that a problem was there. <img id="ImageResize_Image_24" onload="ImageResizer.createOn(this);" src="http://images.stardock.com/smiles/Hmm.gif" align="absmiddle"

This is not intended to be flamebait, just to kick off a friendly discussion. In response to Frogboy's "The changing world of skinning communities" I think

I think I've followed most of the angles as you've presented them, there still seems to be some pieces missing. Perhaps there's no reason why I should know, but it seems like you're announcing a failure to meet some needs such as useful community based testing, that I suspect many of us didn't know weren't being met. So statements taken from the linked thread like the one below are something of a surprise to those of us who rely on the forums for our news:- "T

Hi Po' - great thread :CONGRAT: Clear something up for me fella would ya? Do folks that want to follow this thread need to join in the live/IRC sessions - or will they be able to rely on this thread to see them through the process, ask questions etc...?
Kinda got lengthy again huh? Thanks for working through it guys.
...and well put... [except for 'gotten over' - try 'overcome']... I've seen it said that skinners are in decline, and so having pondered this and matched it with where I'm at and with what I'm seeing, I thought I'd post a few thoughts for consideration - mostly because I'm trying desperately myself to move past the 'good intentions' stage and like others before, I get to
I can hear your heartbreaking messiah, and hope you soon get the sort of good news that you so desperately need... I continue to wish you and yours the strength you all need to support each other through Ethan's illness. Andy.
Bear with me Po' for a couple of days - I'll commit here & now to creating a thread that appeals to those who want to skin, but have lacked that final push.
As for the beta matter : When downloading a beta from my OD subscription it is clear to me that it can have errors and often enough I reported them. In my understanding everybody that downloads betas should be aware that he should report errors to the developer or just leave the download alone. That's what betas are there for, right ?
I'm sure you know there is a distinction to be made between error reporting and beta-testing. A beta tester
I'm not totally clear on the object of this and it's related thread... There are aspects of marketing such as 'My Colors', that I hope succeeds for Stardock, regardless of what it may do for skinners and the customisation community. I'm not sure how we support that directly, or even if we are being asked to. Stardock seems to have bought in many if not all of the resources it needs to develop along this route. I don't feel it's necessarily the place, or even as I stated elsewhere, wit

You're through to Corporate of Borg - all our assimilators are busy right now, but rest assured your domination is important to us...
I've been a beta-tester for products for a few years, and I don't recall seeing the post that called me to arms here.... Where is the post that simply outlines in a positive way how interested members could further support Stardock and by association, skinning? There are enough titles/awards around that nobody understands, I'm fairly sure you'll find folks that like me, have immediate system recovery ability, and are more than happy to wear the beta-badge if that's what it ta
