Actually, it's libraries that I un-check. Regardless of what I do, or how many times I un-check certain libraries in the WinCustomize Browser, they remain listed and updated. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, or how to resolve this? Thanks! Mark

There are several SysStats network monitoring docklets. I can't find any explicitly displaying the IP address, but it shouldn't be difficult to modify one to do it... I looked at the configuration for one of them, and saw no way to do so, but then again, I'm not an expert. I was able to make simple m
I've been able to eliminate a few standalone apps for a number of functions, but I can't seem to find a docklet that will provide this functionality (public facing IP address). Currently I'm using a Konfabulator/Yahoo Widget (a simple line of text that can be positioned on the desktop) for this purpose. Has anyone seen this for OD+? Thanks! Mark
I'm fairly tenacious when it comes to these things, so I expect I'll arrive at some conclusion . . eventually. Maybe Process Explorer will reveal something explorer.exe related that in fact does hang. Maybe OD+ isn't the problem, but is revealing a problem elsewhere! Ah well, if all this stuff worked perfectly, how would I spend my time? <img src="http://ima
There should be an ObjectDock folder in "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder if you have ever shutdown or restarted your computer, as these are the ".ini" files that ObjectDock reads to load with your current theme. Lacking this, ObjectDock would always start with the default settin
Thanks very much for the detailed info. With respect to the cache, I see no Object Dock cache folder at any level (under the user application data heirarchy or anywhere else, with "show hidden files" set in Explorer views). I do have the "When a shortcut is run, if program is already running bring it to the foreground only" option set. "My Computer" was a default dock entry (I didn't manually add it). I did add Explorer
Okay, this odd. It seems that it requires a double click, because somehow it's already running (or Object Dock thinks it is). I see the running indicator under it, and also under "My Computer". That ("My Computer") now also requires a double-click to open, although the task manager doesn't show either thing running. Hmm.. I'm plenty puzzled. Mark
Just bought Object Dock Plus, and so far, it's what I remember it to be when I tried it months ago. Oddly though, out of the blue, it takes a double-click on the shortcut/dock entry to launch explorer.exe. All of the other shortcuts I made work with a single click, as did this one, until about 5 minutes ago. Any ideas? Thanks! Mark
Excellent, thanks! And yes, I did mean Object Desktop.
I just converted my WB4 subscription to Object Dock, and with it, came WB5 (outstanding, BTW). I'd like to run *just* WB5 on my laptop, but want to do so legally. Is there a discount offered for more than 1 WB license? Thanks! Mark
This really seems to be the WindowBlinds release. Great work Stardock!
I had a similar problem, and the latest release I grabbed from Stardock Central, seems to have resolved it. They mentioned hanging apps, and ghost windows, both of which I was seeing, in addition to Explorer hanging, and the inability to do a right-click/properties.
And, I have to add that one of my favorite apps, AutoStart Manager, no longer needs to be excluded with WB5. Very good! Gee, can anything coming up over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend compare?
YOIKS! I just couldn't wait any longer, and I thought: Hmm.... an upgrade to OD from WindowBlinds is $34.95. The upgrade to WB 5 will be (I believe) $15 for me. So, $19.95 more gets me the rest of OD, and WindowBlinds 5 now! So, I went ahead and did it. Looks very cool so far! And, 2 thumbs up to Mike Bryant as well for StealthOS.
Must have hit submit twice. Better to see this than the same thing posted twice.
#8 by Citizen LittleHalfPint Tue, November 22, 2005 0:52 PM Will there be a pre-purchase option for the stand-alone version to get access to a beta install? (I know you can get it with OD, but I was just interested in the stand-alone version for now.) I'm sure access to the betas is
Unfortunately, at least some skins (many I tried) result in an error when pressing the "green button" to launch Media Center. A dialog appears indicating that the video display or driver is incompatible with Media Center. After clicking "ok", Media Center launches, but the on-screen text/icons look somewhat distorted. Uninstalling WindowBlinds restored proper operation. Other than in Media Center itself, WB works fine, but there's definitely some kind
To anyone running WB on a Media Center PC: Any adverse effects on the Media Center itself? Does anything need to be excluded from skinning? Thanks!
Welcome world! I usually have plenty to say, but of course when put on the spot to create my first blog entry, nothing comes to mind. :) I do some blogging elsewhere, but time will tell what happens here, or how often I use it. Okay, that's a start. Now, on to see what, if any customizing can be done here.
I saw a comedian awhile back talk about this, and I'm sorry I can't remember his name. But, he said something like: "I'm a little afraid of the idea of getting laser beams shot into my eyes. Now, if they ever have a procedure where I can get laser beams to shoot *out* of my eyes, count me in!".
Yes, thanks. There's still on elusvive skin out there, but I'll find it. I'm not sure if it'll be easier to search here, the web, or my own only semi-indexed archive. But I'm determined!
Once installed, the author info reveals Dawn Simon on gillon's skins. They are *very* nice. Thanks for the recommendation to search Aleksyander's skins. I'm off to do that. Some of the older stuff sometimes get forgotten, but many of them are great, and still work quite well.
"Clouds", "Cloudless", and "Atmosphere" compound by gillon, are it - I'm 90% sure. Great skins that I remember using regularly, but I still seem to think there was something very similar that was a combination of the blue/beige thing.
A very good call indeed, but alas, that wasn't it (grabbed it anyway though, as Paean is terrific!). The colors were similar, the rounding, about the same, but I recall the min, restore, max buttons to be standard. I'll keep hunting, but Chris, that was a very good/close call!
I recall having and really liking this skin a few years ago, but of course I can't find it now. I think what stood out most about it was that it was relatively simple, shades of beinge and blue (I believe), but it had the best rounded/beveled look I can remember ever seeing. I think it *may* have been a Dawn Simon skin, but a search didn't find it. I'm not sure if it was ever XP compatible, but any thoughts, recollections would be appreciated.
