Instead, we’re now leaning towards if your sovereign is attacked and your side loses, the sovereign flees to the nearest city.
Looks like sovereign hunting won't a viable strategy. That should help the AI.
This still lets him go kill trolls as if they weren't a threat, which doesn't sound consistent with the ability for him to be killed if he takes risks.
Well, my proposal on reply #59 is:
A proposal I have made few posts ago is to have a Highlander like way to handle sovereign death: sovereign can only be killed in combat when another channeler (a sovereign or a magic user hero) is involved directed, hand to hand. The sovereign can be defeated i
If my channeler... a being with the unique power to bring the world back to life simply dies... well, that's anti-climactic and disappointing.
But if he dies only in a combat against another channeler? ;)
Brad has said that it was possible to give some of a channeler's power to other units (you can pour your power into the land to build cities, or share it with a hero). This is another way of having a strong unit and not losing the game if you lsoe the unit: Delegate some of your channeler's power. This makes the channeler less powerful, but mitigates the risks.
That is why I have proposed that a sovereign can only be killed by a channeler unit. That way, if you really w
Problem Solved for Everyone! Yay!
Not for the devs that must take in account this option for: - gameplay - AI programming depending on the option
1. Singleplayer = The AI must be very intelligent in order to play properly with his/her Sovereign. [IE. Hide when needed, don't explore alone, bring a nice big army with himself/herself when attacking an enemy city - it must be able to retreat if needed, it must be careful enough when exploring
Since the game is turn based and if turns are successive , there could be a gameplay penalty when it is your turn and your sovereign cheats death (ie should die but rules are so that he won't die, as in an Highlander like rule) : your turn ends immediately.
This still applies for version 0.24
First, let me say that the sovereign dying is a non-negotiable thing to us. It's an important core concept.
So if I understand clearly, if sovereign die => end game IS a core concept and killing ennemy sovereign IS ALSO a core concept
That said, we do not want users to have to play defensive with their sovereign. The idea is to give players the option to gamble it all if they want.
If I understand correctly, that means that another core
It brings a lot of strategy into the game. I'd like to be able to make my Sovereign into a Super Powerful, Unstoppable, Magical, Killing machine. If Sovereign Death = Game Over then it would be best to get your Sovereign up to the highest level you can.
Unless you got unlucky and your sovereign got killed at level 2 few turns after the start of the game ...
First, let me say that the sovereign dying is a non-negotiable thing to us. It's an important core concept.
Fine. So killing an enemy sovereign is also a core concept and a viable strategy. It is also a means to destroy an ennemy faction without resorting to destroying all its cities.
That said, we do not want users to have to play defensive with their sovereign. The idea is to give players the option to gamble it all if they want.
I think
I'm very curious to see how this will relate to the final game. Certainly a player shouldn't be able to just change their units like that. However, if there is to be mod work, players should be fine to modify units as desired.
This remind me a problem with some versions of GC2 where you were able to build in game (without needing to edit any XML file) an uber scout vessel by only adding cheap sensor modules. I think they manage to slove the problem
deleting the data in Screens allowed me to see the into video. but then it froze on a black screen as I assume the screens data is somewhat important
Have you tried to keep the files in the screens directory but remove all files in the movies one?
I hope people still appreciate that if Elemental isn't available at retail in Europe.
I am wondering about the economic viability for european publisher to sell localized Stardock's games in Europe, as those games get always updates to increase their contents. It must be a financial nightmare for european publishers to have an up to date localization since the game may no longer be selling in retail but there are still localization tasks to be done.
I find it strange that Stardock got the kingdom's boundaries wrong since they had a previous experience on boundaries with GC2 influence areas
There's a sticky at the top of this forum (three of them, actually) about bug reporting.
But the sticky status is only visible if you visit the beta forum specifically https://forums.elementalgame.com/forum/623 If you look at the recent page https://forums.elementalgame.com/recent they don't appear as stickied and can be on page 2, 3, 4 ....
. If there's a way perhaps it'd be a good idea to specify exactly what you're looking for on the bug tracker page.
Well, the bug tracker isn't only used for elemental since it contains bug reports I have made for GC2. So I doubt you can easily set what you are expecting for beta1 elemental report since it is also used for others projects.
If I keep all dxpack files but remove all movies, I am able to get to the menu screen but it crashes as soon as I click on any entry (except exit but that doesn't help for playing).
If I remove all files in the Movies directory and keep all files in the screens directory, I am able to see the menu but it crashes whenever I click on anything
Sadly, it doesn't work in my case: it seems that the TitleWnd.dxpack file causes the crash for me
After more testings on dxpack files, it apperars that the file TitleWnd.dxpack causes the crash after the intro movie in fullscreen mode. When this file isn't present (but all others are here), the game hangs on a black screen and I must kill the program with the task manager When the file is here (even if it is the only one), the game crashes to desktop after the intro movie
I'm getting the same thing. I'd add that it worked the first time I loaded it but I used that to set it to windowed mode. Once I quit and tried it again it crashed at the splash screen each time. I've tried it 5-6 times now with the same results.
I have found here https://forums.elementalgame.com/364358 that windowed mode behaves very strangely
I have already submitted the bug 70274 I have a 5 year old pc with a 5 year old graphic, that is listed as DX9 compatible but not DX 9.0c compatible. And I experience the crash on splash screen problem.
Now, go figure why some retailer like play.com can sell the game for 30€, shipping included. Plus, I get a box and a manual (or something that looks like it).
Not sure if contracts for retail products are the same than contract for digital products. It is possible that for retail, the retailer get a specific amount of boxes for a given amount of cash and can sell them at what ever price he wants, while for digitial sales, the publisher sets the price.
Though the prices actually should be lower in the EU as if many of the games are considered to be "produced" in the USA and together with the US-$ loosing more and more of its worth compared with the Euro the prices should drop rather than staying at high levels.
And what about the case of softwares produced in Europe?
Sure, but at least we would all pay the same
Well, in case of European software, (Paradox and Kalypso media sofwtare), whose costs are in euros, is it normal that US pay a lower price than EU ? And if 1€ = 0.8 $ like it was few years ago, would you still complaint about regional pricing? And is it fair for an european software, with costs in euro, to have a reference price in USD? it must be set in EUR and shouldn't change based on exchange rate. Prices for
