Too funny. Better be careful with those notes, Brad, you never know who's gonna be lurking around, take it completely out of context, blow it out of proportion, and post it all over the interwebs :P

Yes, AI modding is possible. You'll need to learn Python if you want to work with it.
That's been my assumption as well. However, that same assumption turned out not to be the case with East India Company, where the skirmishy type of MP game types were all that you could do.
Shack: What's the deal with multiplayer? Is it essentially the single player component with human players? Brad Wardell: Not quite. We have some special modes for multiplayer. We have an arena mode, which is almost a little bit like Demigod, where you go into a tactical battle. Whoever wins that wins the game. That's for the guy who only has 20 minutes to play. Then you have small maps, very small maps,
In Age of Wonders I the "sovreign" was a unit in the game and when he died the game was lost. Then they realized that the whole game became just a "sovreign hunt" and added the "no sovreign" option in the game. That way the game was playable again. In the sequels of AOW, the sovreign became an immortal wizard who could respawn after death as long as he had an extra tower to go to. A much better option, but still some players like to

Doesnt have to be a random map thing, but some maps where you can adjust a few settings and where the lairs and things are a bit randomized. 2. Improve Heroes AI 3. Make the monster mix better a while into the game so that there are still easy monsters for the low level heroes
I think it's pretty obvious how easy games have become. As others have pointed out, the large publishers have moved the industry away from the hardcore gamer market and into the more lucrative "casual" market. They're a business, so I won't judge, but I do wish we'd get tossed a bone more often. To give a couple examples of how the culture has changed, looked at how Bioshock's mechanics worked, with Vitae Chambers around every corner. Also look at all the co
Is this the cloth map only beta, The current plan is to make the game cloth map only through Beta 2. This way we can truly focus on the gameplay for a few months
Cool, thanks, just curious =) I'm having a debate on whether to beta the game and provide feedback to make the game (in my opinion of course) better, or if I want to hold off and see the finished product in all it's glory. Is this the cloth map only beta, or did that (alpha?) already happen?
Right because assuming that a character is male in a industry where 85% of characters are portrayed as men is sexist. http://negativegamer.com/2009/08/05/new-study-finds-minorities-women-to-be-underrepresented-in-games/
No, the author clearly is implying that women are incapable of performing in the scientific fields. I can't believe she has such a low opinion of women. :(
Didn't read the entire thread so don't know if this was mentioned above, but this cracked me up:
A Nydus Canal is a large, vaginal opening, that if a Zerg unit enters, it may emerge at the other end, in a manner that "greatly puzzles most Terran scientists." (This quote is too much to not mock: What? Men cannot understand the vagina: the symbolic representation of women? I never would have guessed.)<

It was addressed in the expansion, but not fixed. Auto-sending traders to some place is a great way to bankrupt yourself at a bad time. I found a lot of problems with the original, even though it had a lot of promise. So I shelved it. Eventually, I picked up the expansion that promised to solve all the n
I checked X3:TC. Well, I ran the demo that benchmark my PC and I don't think I can run it hehe. My average FPS is 14. But, I have a new laptop and I'll try on it. In the meantime, even after watching the demo and the trailer, I have absolutly no idea of the gameplay. All I say is screenshots of space with ships or battles presented like a video. How do you play this game, how do you trade, etc? I can't find screenshots with text! <br /
I'd second Dominions 3. Also, have you tried Paradox's titles? Europa Universalis 3 and it's expansion packs can be had for cheap. Also, they are releasing Hearts of Iron 3 this Friday. For turn based, give Sword of the Stars a shot!
Demigod and Diablo 2
Just out of curiousity, were you playing Diablo 2 with the new mod that allows for all screen resolutions to be used? If you have, I'd be curious to see how it actually played.
Picked up Dawn of War 2 due to the 50% sale Relic offered. I always thought the skirmish and multiplayer modes were complete rubbish (and still think so), but for $25 I didn't mind picking it up and playing the campaign coop with a friend. Lot of fun, definitely worth the $25 for that.
It's a fantastic game. As others have said, the expansions really make the experience even better. Other than that, just prepare for a learning curve (as you've played the demo you're already well on your way, so that shouldn't be a concern).
Have you tried X3: Terran Conflict? If not, get it. Get it right now. Look! I even include helpful links, because I'm such a swell guy. Website: http://www.egosoft.com/games/x3tc/info_en.php Trailer: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-aldrin-x3-terran/49492
I loved 1701, 1404 looks great. I'll gladly pick the game up... just as soon as they drop the install limit. Until then, well, I don't rent PC games. As for multiplayer, having played a few games of MP 1701 let me just say: there's nothing more pointless than multiplayer in a city builder.
Really? I'm completely uninterested in playing that game on my own, but I love playing it with
The complete lack of any kind of death penalty (well, other than lowering the monster's levels to make it easier for you) kinda killed it for me. Yes, I know there's a hardcore mode, and that's what I'd exclusively play but hardcore is a PITA when playing with a LAN group. I'd love something in between, but sadly nothing is offered and it's not moddable. Back to Titan's Quest mods for me :)
Service? What? Like charging all your EU customers the same price in a 1:1 ratio between dollars/euros? Or how about refusing refunds for any reason? Or maybe quoting pre-scripted responses to issues spouting out agreements and contacts? Pffft.
To be honest, that's not true. I've had Steam refund 3 or so games in the past.
I had it pre-ordered. Lack of MP caused me to cancel my pre-order. Why would I "upgrade" to 1404 when I'm happily playing 1701 with my friends right now? On top of that, the machine limit activation kills it for me. No Dawn of Discovery / 1404 for me!
Haven't read the whole thread yet, but wanted to throw my vote behind Camp #1. When I want "Simple and Fun" I'll play a shooter or action RTS game. When I play TBS, I want sophistication and depth to my decision making.
Yea, I'm pretty sure he's referring to online games only, but clarification would be nice. Brad, as much as I know you don't care for multiplayer, I have to say thank you a million times over for including it in Elemental. I have a regular weekly LAN group that absolutely loves TBS games and it kills us we can't do GalCiv2 :)

I've heard numerous people say "Oh, yea I heard about that game
