Have to agree with most posters here-- would do both dependent upon the game design and the particular game circumstances. If they need My Awesomonius out in the field to wage war, will do so. Conversely, if the cowering peasants at home need My Gawdliness to allay their superstitious fears, I shall do that as well. Probably exactly what Brad&Co. wants to hear: the fact we'll all change play-styles dependent upon circumstances. Keeps the game "fresh."

I like the embassy idea, with a couple of tweaks... I like some of the additional details with respect to how the embassy would be developed and its ultimate usefulness, yet I don't think individual Champion Units are necessary to be present in each embassy. I think having to manage these units, particular for those players not necessarily interested in unit and diplomacy micromanagement, would be a turn-off. I personally don’t

Conceptually I like what is being stated here with regard to limiting diplomacy abuse through game mechanics; however I don't concur that there can be a lack of trust yet a reasonable relationship (i.e. I ain't gonna have ANY relationship with my spouse if they go catting around because of a lack of TRUST...). I would roll these two variables into one and just define it as "Relationship" similar to an overall score as found in SoSE Diplomacy. This Relationship Score would ope

"Also, How would diplo bonus work when you are the party being contacted? You're not going to create an embassy in your own city are you? I suppose, this is actually a viable option. Makes sense too, having a diplo team at home helping the sov out with negotiations." Well that's a really good question. I suppose that TWO Embassies would need to be built-- one within each faction's city. Perhaps the DISCOVERER&

I absolutely concur with prior posters that the tech tree should not be fully researchable thereby further differentiating factions as the game progresses. Indeed, based upon technological choices made, I would believe some "branches" of a tech tree get closed off permanently via research in favor of pursuing another tech branch. This may not be entirely "realistic" but more "fun." This player decision-making would add some depth, I believe, to game playin

[quote who="=Outlaw=" reply="63" id="2622440"]Lots of good ideas. Whatever diplomatic system is made, it shouldn't be easily gamed by players against the AI, and it should try no to be completely useless in multiplayer...here are my thoughts on some of the topics brought up in this thread. Diplomatic Units ....but you still need to move them around the map and watch out they don't get assassinated. Initiating Diplom

Lurker--- 1st time poster to Elemental. Very interested in THIS Stardock product. One missing feature I have found in nearly all multiplayer games is the inability for a Human Player to take over an AI Player's team/position in mid-game. In many MP games I can only find 2-3 total players who will consistently make time to play. In an enivronment where these Players also play against the AI, such as in Age of Wonders SM, there are ocassions where one h
