Look at it this way: they're researching the locations of forgotten notable places, resources, and leads on important people wandering the wastes. Imo, there could be more quest types (and more involved) and notable locations, but I would be sad if it got the axe...
This - most definitely. I also love the idea, after all, Gandalf only foun

As for civ5, i probably won't be buying it - i have enough of those already and also the call to power series and alpha centauri! And in all honesty, if all you did was throw in a much better AI, Alpha Centauri and call to power (Yes the AI in call to power is pretty much a lame duck) as old as they are, would still be better games by far than anything yet to date in the civilization series. &

Sigh - still waiting on my FIRST copy [e digicons]X([/e]
Yup - same here. Loving what is there so far and looking forward to the game evolving over time. I'm even finding the novel better reading than some sites would have led me to believe [e digicons]8C[/e]
Wait. Right now the game, at best, is an acquired taste. There a lot of changes coming in the next couple of months and might be some teething pains to boot. Unless you love modding, no one can justify the $50 price tag, but that might change shortly.
Actually, the first Avalon Hill game I bought was the boardgame Nieuchess around 1961, followed by Tactics II right afterwards. Both games started a fire that has yet to go out...I bought many, many board games but the problem was always finding the time and buddy to play with. Then later there were the monster board games that were fun to buy and lay out but the cats or dogs in the house invariably ended those experiments. PC T
Not buying Civ 5 - been there and done that enough with that series of games. Looking forward to being along for the ride as Elemental evolves.
I agree with almost everyone here...really disappointed currently in the purchase. If I could refund I would, I feel pretty taken. If it says anything I started a new Space Empires 5 game since this has been released.
Here, as in the forums? Thought the vote was about 50/50 or so? Will have to check latest stats - but 'almost everyone here' is not disappointed - though many are.
Civ V No way - just don't feel any need for another Civ title. Just me though [e digicons][/e]
I've played the 1.0 version and its clearly a 20 - 30 game at that level. What about 1.07 is that worth $50? I have a feeling elemental will fizzle quickly like demigod and in a few months I'll be able to get it for $20
Well - since I paid $100 and am happy, 50 seems a snip (but then I did get the LE and postage to the back of beyond).
"+ Tactical Battles: Stuck turn if you use space bar or click "Pass Turn" button while selected unit is moving. Clicking auto-resolve will end the battle if the turn is stuck." This one is a killer for me - accidentally do it all the time and end up auto-resolving, which often kills units which otherwise would be fine.</span
Umm - it's been the weekend and quite clear from Stardock posts here that everyone is taking a much needed rest to come in today and start squashing the bugs. It also takes time to develop a fix and test it - nothing worse than too much haste on a patch.
It was a fantastic game. Like any of these games, you have to self-limit out the overpowered combos to give the AI a chance. I could spend an hour or more simply designing my ruler for that game. Once you didn't allow yourself to indulge in the overpowered setups, it became a great balancing act. By comparison, this game's sovereign creator has far fewer real options. It's not about putting 1 or 3 or 11 points into a type of magic..
yes that is correct. I think I prefer epic myself. I keep hopping back and forth between the two with each patch. Haven't finished my large 10 ai, normal game yet, will go epic tomorrow if I manage to finish this one out.
Played a bit more and definitely warming to Epic. Would be nice to have 2 more speed options between the current 3 to experiment with, so: Epic New speed A Normal
OK - I have been finding tech development a bit fast for my liking so have decided to fiddle with game speed; I'm assuming: Epic - takes longer to get new tech and magic Normal - what it says Fast - tech and magic research goes faster Is this correct? [e digicons][/e] Next - how much do the settings alter the speed of development? Thanks in advance for all replies.

Is your username a reference to yourself or the game? Just curious.
Not unplayable here. Seen some bugs - yes - had a few crashes. Keep coming back for more. Can't wait until it is more stable and some more AI / feature updates - but have seen worse in new games (and better too of course).
WAIT! This game is broken in many fundamental design ways, defense stacking, general AI, many techs ... i.e. you would be disappointed likely (unless you are one of the 23 % that LOVE this game accding to teh poll)
Or the other large percentage who like it.
but I imagine some traditional fantasy style races would't hurt. I would say this is doubtful even though it'd do wonders for the fantasy feel of the game.
Correct, only god knows why they called it an Campaign, which is misleading. The campaign is basically just an tutorial for the basics.
Because, as I understand it, more chapters will be released in coming weeks / months.

It's good when it succeeds in doing it. So, can anyone get back on topic and tell me what's so great about this game ? My favourite games in the genre are Master of Magic and Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic. I know bugs and issues can be squashed, but if gameplay is fundamentally flawed somewhere then the

I am not a regular poster here - I think the discounting / standalone expansion is over the top. Just needs tuning - unplayable is a major exaggeration.
