As the topic suggests - right now it is pretty brutal to spend 30 population just to get an outpost. It would be nice to have, let's say, engineers costing 5 population that would be able to build outposts but not cities.
Another useful suggestion. Either make it scouts and a gold cost and consume the scout when it builds, or the engineer idea - either seems better than the current system.

I occasionally have the graphics for resources (horses, wolves etc) not showing. I know they are there because the scroll shows up on the square.
Excellent suggestion Firefly, I support it. Derek if you're about please consider making scouts able to create Outposts for gold and Pioneers cities for population! The benifits is twofold, underused scouts will be more used! A very elegant solution
I like this idea as well.
I purchased LH from Stardock charged £13.63 GBP cost to purchase from Steam - £12.49 GBP I thought buying direct from Stardock would be cheaper or same price as on steam!
If you have used Steam much you would find that games there are quit
I have also frequently had one hero start alone on the far side of an obstruction while the another hero and the rest of the army are on the near side. The lonely hero is often faced with half the enemy forces. Seems to me this needs a little work.
As noted - prompt when asking to overwrite an existing file. [edit] suggest the same when you delete a file from the load screen. Maybe make the prompts optional to cater for those who don't care for them.
When I examine the traits of a hero there is a prompt to choose a trait even when I am unable to do so. {Copied over from General LH forum}
Oh god, no more popups! Notification? Sure.
Optional pop-ups for the win!!
If you refer to the Zzz.. symbol in the top left corner of the screen, it's not enough. I really tried to focus on that corner each turn this time but still already in a couple of hours of gameplay I twice pressed end turn not noticing I had cities idle. It shouldn't be so easy to waste a turn by accident in the game.
Probably what I was thinking. Would be nice to have an option to turn a pop-up warning
Same here - the beta so far is looking like the game I was hoping for first time around - thanks and well done.
I like being able to attack anyone in the city area without my unit moving - been a while since I played the series so may have been there a while - but a nice feature.
As noted - prompt when asking to overwrite an existing file.
When I examine the traits of the hero there is a prompt to choose a trait even when I am unable to do so.
On the third one - I received a warning that my city was idle? Only played a short time so far though.
Just played a couple of hours but looks really promising and better than both its predecessors - will add info to relevant threads as I play more.
when...?
Wondering this as well. Got an email that the beta is now available but no key (so far). [EDIT] Fooled by the 'mailing it to you as well - and of course immediately afterwards noticed it was on my Stardock account page [e digicons][/e]
Thanks folks - nice to see the game getting timely updates.
Looking good at first glance, a few things I noticed: - My games are defaulting to Normal not Easy difficulty [EDIT] Installed on my 2nd PC and it was defaulted to Easy - The video for monster lairs had no audio - others did
A little confused as to versions. I assume if I go to my Stardock account page and download the update it is beta version 4 (and the game version number is still 0.950)? ta
After problems with a C++ error on registration, and then the 'messed up registry' message when I got past that - it is looking nice and I like the changes to the interface from the original game. However, the tutorial text has a number of typos and the game itself crashed after about 2 minutes. I had read on the net that the beta was now looking and running better than the old game - hmmm.
Welcome. I have been trying to put out the good word for Elemental along with other people on the Civ Fanatics Forum. There has been a fairly positive buzz created towards the game because of this. Especially this thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=405331 I am glad that people are coming here, trying the game and enjoying it. I am also glad that they are providing constructi
I think they should put off making a demo until the game is as it should be. The amount of changes planed need to be implemented. And with an expansion on the way, I think they should wait.
How long should they wait? The game changes all the time. It's like buying a PC, you would never get around to it if you kept waiting for the next big thing. I can't see why they don't have a demo with limited moves, it could be
So, poor OP person - tearing your hair out yet? This was supposed to be a nice welcome thread as opposed to that 'other' thread. Ah well, welcome aboard, 'nuff said.
Demo would be nice. Could save a lot of time answering the 'sell me on this game' or 'tell me what this game is like' threads [e digicons]|-)[/e]
They are still coming, its just like A_Feest said, they got pushed back in the queue of things to get done with all the 1.1 stuff. Cant give you an ETA (because I don't know one) but know they are being worked on.
Thanks for the update. You may wish to revise the website for the content so that the dates are 'TBA' or some such.
