Well, just a bit ago, ESC started working for me after being hit many, many times in many different sessions and doing nothing. Hopefully it will stay working, because at the moment I can save and load as well as exit normally, which is nice. If only the Kingdom menu would start working...

Deleting the FamilyTree files is definitely only a partial fix. I'm getting pretty inconsitent functionality across sessions and cannot access any menus in the game, so I can't try a re-start and load to see if it gets me back or finally into a more functional state. The oddest variations are in whether or not I can even attack a wandering monster (sometimes I just end up sharing a square), whether I can build a town, and whether I can train troops in a town. (I also had one very odd
Well, it looks like we have very similar feelings about our party memberships. But I still object to a definition of politician that is fundamentally pejorative. It just seems like misguided anarchism, or rhetoric taken too seriously, or something like that. Faugh, I'm still fighting off all that nasty hope that my party was brandishing last fall... p.s. I deleted the contents of the screens folder, as suggested here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/36430, and found out the following: 1) If I tell impulse to redownload the contents, there is no change (the game still crashes after ~5 seconds on the splash screen). However, if I leave the folder empty, and run Elemental from a desktop shortcut, I can successfully get to the in

Heh. I guess it's a good thing that I've ignored the Windows Update offers to 'update' my Nvidia drivers since I got GC2 working via an Nvidia update. But I'm still with Popcornlord--no joy despite numbers changing in my driver version. Nothing changed in the DebugMessage section of my debug.err file.

Pinning this thread seems like a very good idea. I'd also like to know whether the devs prefer to see a bunch of individual reports or whether it would help more to add to an existing thread that sounds like the problem you're having. (At the moment, I'm one of several folks having a CTD pretty promptly after the splash screen appears, so I just posted my debug.err in someone else's thread about 'the same' problem.)

It wouldn't even make sense for someone with as much power as them to only have black magic spells. ...[/quote] We still don't even know if the game will have built-in 'necromancers' of some sort, and there's plenty of range in the concept for both the vanilla game and modders. The mode you seem to expect strikes me as having them be essentially tough 'monsters' in the D&D sense, but lots of the posts on the subject have made me think of a serious Elemental necromancer

On IRC, Scott said he's starting the final process to get the build on Impulse. Compiling is the least of it, evidently. There's some hand-tweaking necessary, a bit of testing, and a big hunk of time to just get the necessary files on the public servers. 1400ish East coast time if we're lucky, methinks.
I'm pretty sure that essence will remain a stat about magical strength, so a strong necromancer would have just as much as a strong channeler with a different speciality/style. Also, I'm pretty sure I spotted a few tiny dev mentions of the idea that 'natural' channelers like the sovereigns are extremely rare, but not limited to just the sovereigns. Maybe that's a wish-fulfullment projection, but it does seem like a very good idea that would enable many things like a solitary necromanc

I try to ignore genre quibbling most of the time, but 'roots cyberpunk' is near and dear to my heart so I have to speak up on a couple of points. First, the "punk" part was every bit as important as the "cyber" part back in the day--the core of the genre is dystopian novels. Second, this steampunk stuff is a moochy little parasite of a genre, not a "sister genre." I've enjoyed a few Babbage engine stories, but there is little to no dystopian perspective in steampunk and to me that mea
Perhaps the eventual Custom Champion tool can be expanded to include inanimate objects as 'body types?' It's pretty hard to imagine a satisfying Elric mod without some way to make Stormbringer appropriately demonic.
