I noticed a problem in a game I was playing last night where I would randomly lose all my mana (go into the negative) even though I wasn't casting anything. Any ideas if ROM could cause something like this?
Murteas
Agreed. I leave it at low the whole game. Seems like this is missing something it could be adding to the game.
I still think the cost should be on the city creation, not the pioneer creation. I think we have too few outposts in general, and that would increase their creation.
I love this. Have you done anymore with it?
Just brainstorming here: What if instead of making Pioneer units cost gold, charge gold for the founding of a city. Maybe 10 gold per rating (so a 3/2/2 would cost 70 gold).
Totally agree with this suggestion. I think that this would solve a lot of problems, and it would make me use outposts a lot more as I assume they wouldn't cost as much.
Go ahead and post your quest that isn't working, so we can load it up and see what is going on. Some of the problems stem from the Quest System in the game being very "fiddly". Meaning that if you don't get it exactly right some things don't work. It's what got me frustrated with the idea of a quest editor in the first place, and is one of the reasons you haven't seen alot of work by me lately. Somethings that should work, simply don't.
Sorry, I will try to get a video done, but it is going to have to wait for a few days. With 4 kids, Christmas is not a "vacation". :)
Murt, I'm not having much luck with this wizard. I tried to create 4 quests and none of them work. In addition, I tried to download your sample quests, but when I click the "download" button, the browser just shows me the XML and doesn't download anything. Argh!
Can you post your quests. Maybe we can help you out. At least then I can load them and see what is going on.
Ok, looks like we have enough interest to make a start. Let's try a small contest first. I'll put something together to announce it, and then we'll expand to a larger contest after we see how the first goes. If someone is dying to manage the contest, let me know and I'm happy to give way, otherwise I'll get an announcement up in the next few days (as I have some time off for the holidays). Get thinking of what you want to cre
Interesting thought. 1 per person would be good, but I also don't want to lose anything that we could use in the future. Now I am willing to be one of the judges, but I am not sure I want the sole responsibility. I am hesitant to put it to a vote because I doubt the general populace will play all the quests and have a real opinion on each. so what say you, what is the best way to determine a winner for this? should we ask the
Hi everyone, I want to gage the interest in a quest making contest. I am willing to put some prizes together if there is enough interest, maybe we can even get Stardock to contribute. So do people want to see some new quests from the community? Would you participate in the contest? Use of the quest wizard is not going to be required, but it certainly would make it easier to get started. So start thinking and get re
There isn't a repository anywhere. I know that people have made quests, but they've been stubborn and haven't shared them. You can post quests on nexus however if you make some.
Yeah, definitely consider making your own quests (and then sharing them with the community). Try out the quest wizard, it isn't too bad to get started and you can make a simple quest in a few minutes of time. Once you've done that you can make something more complicated. You're welcome to try my sample quests as a start, however, they aren't anything too great. They just illustrate what you can do in a few minutes of time.
That's an interesting thought. Of course it requires me to create several new items. :) Sounds like I should really make an item editor. And of course who is going to click on an item that takes 5 health away from them? [e digicons]}:)[/e] good idea ... I hadn't considered going about it that way.
So it does work, I just can't see it all the time. Depends on how zoomed in I am and what angle I have the camera.
Yeah, looks like is the tag that puts things over people's heads. That is definitely better than no feedback. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. edit: Doesn't seem to be working. I wonder if it has to start with a + or - or there is some other limitation.
I should have mentioned this is a strategic spell. I'll check out destiny's gift. Some text is better than nothing. I think you are right about the popups, although when you get an item, you get a popup, but as far as I can tell that is hardcoded and just uses the description from the xml.
Hi all, Has anyone figured out a way to get a popup with a game modifier? I have a spell I've been working on called Fortune's Gamble. The spell itself works great, but it is sometimes hard to figure out what it did (it gives a random "bonus" to the player). I'd like to simply popup a message that says "You got 10 gold" for example. Any suggestions?
Yeah, definitely e-mail support and maybe check the debug.err file found in My Documents/My Games/Fallen Enchantress/debug.err. It should have a lot of details about what is happening that will help them identify the problem. Also, you may be asked to e-mail in the saves, so don't get rid of them. Good luck. Also are you using any mods? did you delete any mods when playing?
Or just a general open/closed borders option with a certain faction.
How about War Dogs. Or Battle Hounds.
I thought about it, but it's just soooooooo boring to do (tedious xml). And I almost only mod stuff that I find interesting to mod.
I could help with that. I love doing tedious stuff. ;) Maybe I could code something up that would be able to make other races of type bandit. I was already thinking of making a high level bandit to help the bandit lord. I'll see if I can get some storm
Wohoo! Downloading the new version.
Agreed. It's a lot of fun. Good time to try it out.
Interesting... I'll have to check it out. Looks similliar to some of the editors I started making. How did you generate the classes for the xml serialization? Did you generate your own xsd? Thanks for sharing this with the community.
