Nice game except savegames dont work

Hi

First proper gameplay yesterday and i was thrilled. After few hours of playing way more powerfull enemy ai launched a massive assault against me with many times more troops then i had. Luckily i had my well prepared fortress as a bottleneck to my land so i dug in and repelled wave after wave of enemies. After almost an hour of intense battle  the flow of enemies finally stopped and i was thinking wow, this was cool. My mana storage was close to zero and just few units left but i am alive hurraa.

 

Today i was thinking to continue my triumphant way to dominate the world but. wtf game crashes when trying to load a game save. ok i´ll try bit older save, same thing, next one, same thing. Out of 10 game saves only the first two (under an hour played) managed to load. Others crash the game to desktop when loading bar is around midway through. Great, just great.

So quite a bummer i have to say. Not exactly so keen to try again if this issue with game saves continues. I am just wondering what might cause this. I dont have  any issues with other games in general.

You haven't told us anything about your OS or RAM.  Providing that sort of background information makes it much easier to help out, you know.

 

At a guess, if this is RAM-related, try rebooting to free up more memory.   Close down any browsers, contact managers, etc, that you can.  Then try running the game and reloading.

Hi again

rebooting did not help but i did check the memory usage from processes and Fe kept filling memory until up to 3.7 gigs memory used it crashes.

Is this some kind of memory leak problem or what amount of ram FE uses in general. I bough FE from Steam if that matters in any way

You should have plenty of RAM, then.  There have been some memory leak issues to the game, but I'd thought they were all worked out.  Myself, I can't help you: I'm current using a 32-bit WinXP OS.  (I know, I know.  Financial issues.  I hope to get a new computer mid-next year with 64-bit Win7, but we'll see.)  So the advice I give really wouldn't be suitable to your setup, except in the most general sense.


 i suggest posting your problem along with the system details you've provided (and the fact you're running it off Steam) under the Tech Support forum. That way, the people who really need to see this will have it in front of their eyes.

Yeah, definitely e-mail support and maybe check the debug.err file found in My Documents/My Games/Fallen Enchantress/debug.err.   It should have a lot of details about what is happening that will help them identify the problem.   Also, you may be asked to e-mail in the saves, so don't get rid of them.

Also are you using any mods?  did you delete any mods when playing?
