Update available. I recommend you re-download if you can, as the previous version had a bug which would make you have no armies. :) Which while increasing the difficulty really lessens the fun of the game. ;) I've added a few new features, but I'll have to add some more of the suggestions later. I've got to get to bed. [e digicons][/e] (I'm no Stardockian I tell you...I've got to get my sleep.)

Dang it. I tested a few of the races, not all of them. I'll try to fix that. Just a note, that the starting unit types is the same as the internal faction editor has, however, you can add/remove whatever you want there. Same thing with terrain types, A options, etc. you can just type what you want and it will be added. What does the faction background selection actually do? I couldn't tell what it does, and the intern
Latest version up. Try it out. Hopefully it is more user friendly. Let me know what you would like to see in here. It's hard for me to know if this is useful or too hard for people to use still.
James, I am going to start looking at this as well. I'll let you know what I find.
I'm tempted to reduce the options a little to simply things. Like if you choose Kingdom it preselects all the kingdom techs, people, selects good, etc. What do you think? Also, I just created a race with some strange colors, despite the in-game editor not using the skin color, building color, roof color, you can indeed use them and they show up. However, the attributes on the last tab (like assasin, etc.) don't really work for races.
I tried this and it didn't show up in the faction editor. :( I assume this means the faction editor doesn't look for mods. I guess for now your best bet is to edit the xml or use the fan made faction editor. Yes, you can put your actual image files in your mod structure, you just need to put the full path to the file instead of just the file name in the xml. that way you can keep them separate.
Check AbilityBonuses.xml and CoreAbilities.xml. AbilityBonuses has things like benevolent, death worshipping, etc. You should be able to copy that file and add your own value in. I don't think it will show up in the faction editor however. You'd have to add that in the xml yourself (or use the faction editor in the mod forums).
Great work. Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with.
Brad, Thanks for keeping us up to date. Honestly, I've loved the whole journey with Elemental. I wish there was some way to convey my thanks and admiration to the entire Elemental team. The dedication you guys have is amazing. As a programmer I appreciate the incredible efforts you guys have gone through to get such a great game out the door. I look forward to the future. Thanks again.
You need to add a file like the below xml to your mod folder which identifies the custom logos you have created:
DisplayName DisplayName,Description ChangeMeAlso </Descriptio
Make sure you check "use mods" as well in the options.
[e digicons]:omg:[/e] - Okay, well, I'll keep this around. I also noticed you can't change the building colors, etc in the Stardock editor. It just uses a single color. I'm not sure if that was intentional or just to make it less cluttered. I'll keep things around for now. BTW, the tech tree in this editor does work correctly. :)
In the Day 0 patch notes: + Faction Editor “Faction Creator” hooked up Looks like this project may not be needed anymore. If anyone disagrees after tonight's patch let me know and I'll see what we still need. I'll move on to another mod project if not.
+ Faction Editor “Faction Creator” hooked up Great. Looks like my editor can RIP. :)
Hey, if you remove all the seed maps, it does generate a random map . It just checked it works. Try it. Just move any files with the words seed in the title from the game map directory ( \data\Maps), then start a new game. Voila random map. Try it you'll like it. They won't be balanced (but you do start with fertile ground close by at least in all mine I did). Good luck!
maniakos, I fully hope that we get the official faction editor soon. As this is really only a temporary fix. If we need it to be more permanent, then it will need a lot more effort for it to be usable by everyone (i.e. explanations for each characteristic, display the logos, etc.). However, there seemed to be a need and a lot of people didn't want to edit their own XML and I could do something about that. I intend to support this as much as needed as
Found a new hosting location. Should work for a while. Edited first post with new download location.
Yeah, my goal is to put some tool tips in there so you know what things do. I just have to find time to actually do it. Plus with the patch coming any time this will probably change again. If someone has a better place to host the file let me know and I'll put it there.
You could include the Faction editor if you want to: https://forums.elementalgame.com/390184
Quick update. I'll update again after the Day 0 patch goes live (assuming there are changes to make).
I'll look into it. I really want to wait to release for the day 0 patch so I don't have to change values again for the xml, but I check and see what might have broken. any specific bonuses/flaws that aren't working for you?
That is intentional for the campaign. As you progress other technologies/spells will become available. The campaign plays a lot differently than the sandbox mode. edit: Ninja'd [e digicons]:ninja:[/e]
Purple Paladin, Frogboy said in a post last night that they have been convinced to add tact. battles back in to MP. It will be coming in the future.
The faction editor does allow you to change the color of your faction (clothing, houses, skin, hair, metal, etc.) I can add some newlines to the xml, however any good xml editor should be able to do that as well when you open the file. In either case, I'll add the newlines so that it is more readable. New version coming soon. It will also have an ability modifier area (i.e. faction gets a 25% increase to strength or a 50% mana regen bonu
No race or faction editor huh
There is one available in the mods section. If it doesn't have the features you want, write a comment. I'm sure the author would be happy to take suggestions. ;)
