From another thread: [quote who="Frogboy" reply="45" id="2753014"] There will be massive consequences for Stardock's game studio. I'll be talking more about this when I get back. But the game wasn't released early. The game was released poorly. Head in the sand syndrome imo. ... The point is, the issue here is far far worse than many of you think it is. I wish it was an issue of the game being released too early. That's an easy thing for a co
At the moment, the AI essentially cheats, and the player (with enough forum research) can cheese game mechanics to easily win. If you don't, and are playing the game as a "virgin", you'll lose. Repeatedly. Given Gal Civ's AI (at least, from later on builds - I'll ignore the whole Sins problematic tactics of certain ship spamming = instant win, esp. in multi-player issues that went on for years) sophistication, the step down is immense. I'm hoping that 1.1 fixes
$.02 When I initially read the back story (ravaged land, yadda yadda, we're all post-apocalyptic fantasy peasants with hoes) I imagined a kind of mechanic like Alpha Centauri. i.e. Tile improvement would be a core feature. In AC, you literally have to prune back the native flora to get workable bases (at first). Instead, rare food resources (ok, player only, the AI doesn't have this limitation) determine at least starting cities (caravans, later on make this less important). At the mo

Someone, even a dev, offering a joke up does not mean he is not taking his job seriously. Sometimes you just need to take a step back, not take yourself so seriously, and laugh. Metacritic scores are essentially flawed, as there's no point scaling for time. Quake II still boasts a huge metacritic score on Steam, and well... let's just say the old girl hasn't aged so well. We can argue over gems such as System Shock, Deus Ex and so on. But, truth be told, Elemental isn't going to hit anything above an 80, even if it was working. Low-fantasy is great if done properly, but you have to work damn hard to make it work we
