Game feels Incomplete

Here are some issues thus far.

1.  Game feels very stiff, the text for quests is boring & sometimes does not even corelate to the yes or no responces....

2.  Treeties need more vercitility cash for tech, tech for cash or even piece for chash/tech

3.  Spells & spell book needs shortcuts as its very tedious with too many clicks.

I am still to finish a map due to the game getting slow & crashing after turn 100+ but thats all i got for now.

Treaties are what really bug me at the momment and i have no doubt Brad knows this and is working on the A.I.

At the momment there is no way to bribe or intimidate a faction to stop warring another faction like your ally or whatever. Also no imediate call to war if an ally is attacked or any notification if they go to war. Instead of all these " we should crush so and so, capitar and umber can do this",  i'd like to see "our ally has declared war on the fallen, 1.shall we assist them, 2.send suppys or 3.do nothing". Or atleast " we will pay you 10 gilder to help us fight the umber" or something along those lines. Factions calling me to war other factions with no incentive or reasoning is kind of annoying late game when they pop up every 5 turns or so.

I would at the very least want to see the A.I on par with Galciv in terms or diplomecy and faction management with the next patch.

Well the text is what you get when you hire 'professional' writers apparently.

I wonder if random house is taking any flak from any of this.

I think, since Frogboy wrote the Elemental book, which was published by Random House, what they meant by "Written by professional writers from Random House!" was "Frogboy wrote the descriptions".

Also, I agree that it's silly for the AI Factions to constantly beg you to fight their wars for them without offering you anything, in return. Even some gold or an alliance offer would be better than "Just do it! It'll be fun!!"

I just found why i was not seeing any hero's..... i did not lvladventuring.  Never got to see what game was about since it keeps crashing on loads & if i put the game in to background it crashes as well, going to go look up what i need to upload to get a fix lol.  Yea i agree still on the writing & treaties though.

It's also lame that to get anyone to want to sign a treaty you have to have a larger army than them... I mean sure some people are just warlike... but everyone? really?

Quick answer to your question:

Yes, the game is incomplete at this moment in time.

Next question?

What is the answer to life, the universe, and everything?

Exactly!

Now what that means, Deep think needs to spend a few more decades on...

Really, there is a bit of "Why am I doing this" at times. I hope it wasn't pushed out because of the book release, which would have been the same regardless of the game release. There is also the CIV V date, etc. I don't mean to slam Stardock, just agreeing that there is a certain something, heart, soul, fleshing out that is almost there, but missing.

I have faith SD will get it there, but it will probably be a month or two away. Given that many folks these days move on to something else like changing underwear, I hope it won't be too late.

Do they really say it will be fun?!?! :D Most of the time all I get are warnings about a certain faction growing too strong or the time is ripe to attack them...

And yeah they offer nothing to compensate you for the effort, and they even have the nerve to ask you to declare war on your ally.

The file is called debug.err, it's in your My Documents\My Games\Elemental folder.

there was actually an employee who worked full time writing some of the descriptions. It wasn't all Brad, though the book was his.

Who do i send the file too?

Copy everything in the debug.err file and put it on http://pastebin.ca/

If you can, upload the crash dump file from C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic

(note: the ProgramData folder is a hidden folder. You can view hidden folders by going into Folder Options and checking "Show hidden files and folders")

You can upload this file using a free file hosting site or https://www.dropbox.com/

I thought Brad said at some point that the 'professionals' at RH were helping with the in game text.  Or at least with the descriptions/lore.  I don't know about the book, because I really don't care about the lore of this game, so I'm not likely to bother reading it, but the in game text should be 100% perfect, because there really is no excuse for that kind of crap at release.  Especially if 'professionals' were supposedly involved.

programmers are notoriously bad about spelling and grammar when it comes to output-texts (:

Just sayin'.

But there was a Dev Journal where Brad said there was a guy basically writing all the lore for the NPCs and stuff. Some of the NPC stuff isn't half bad.
