Quarterly, would be good. What I would like to see is Maps / Fraction packs: IE, a Toikien style map with Dwarves, Elves, Hobbits, Orcs and Goblins etc. A Game of Thrones map, a Wheel of Time map. Now, I know there are IP rights to those books, but something that was designed along those lines would be very cool indeed. More quest packs, more Legendary item packs, maybe more basic items for the start of the game. Tactical maps where the terrain plays a bigger par

This has been an ongoing issue since the early stages of the first beta. I think it might be an equip issue since the sovereigns never have the duplicate items equipped. On one hand, its a bug, but on the other hand since you don't get any money or any remaining cities when the enemy surrenders, its a nice cash bonus when you sell off the duplicates. However, one thing I would like fixed in 1.4 is when you are selling items in the shop, the selected item is highlighed with a

Just a couple of AI issues that I've noticed before that I think need to be looked at. I'm currently playing the 1.1 beta. First, Kudos! I finally had the AI use a area effect spell on me. However, the AI was able to use Freeze several times in one turn and then did the same thing the following turn. That's breaking the rules. I still find that the AI builds excessive pioneering units and just sends them off by themselves, even late in the game when

Just a comment about this change: Increased the casting cost of Tornado form 45 to 150 I think this is a bit too much of a over correction. You need to draw a line between abuse and non-use and the 150 cost makes the spell too expensive to use IMO. The Tornado spell is a great Doom stack busting spell, but at 150 it won't get used enough by the player. I put this in the same spell range as Cloudwalk and I would expect this spell to be around 80-100 mana. What I would add is a cool

It happened to me as well during Beta. (and I forgot to post about it... stupid me !) One easy way to reproduce this is: * Launch the quest with champion A and lose the fight. * The goodie hut is now gone, replaced by the remains of the yithril army. * Attack this stack with another army (in my case, I didn't wait for Champion A to fully recover. I think I had Champion B leading that stack, but honestly I don't remember.) * Win th

I remember that I used a few spells in order to try to survive the battle. I know I did haste, I also used a Fireball scroll and used one other scroll that I found, but I don't remember which one - but it was another damage scroll (Wither?). When he died, I didn't immediately notice that the ship was beside him in the city. I had auto saves at 3 and when I realized it was there it was too late to go back and retry the battle. I did kill off most of the guards, but I don't

Had this happen to me during the first campaign scenario: Playing as Relis, I sent a army to the west to deal with the Yithril invasion. I took out the city and occupied it and then sent Relis alone against the army that was guarding the ship. I lost the battle and the ship was moved along with Relis to the city. I couldn't access the ship the rest of the scenario.

I'm also seeing this issue with 1.01 that that did not happen in 1.00. Whenever I have a horse mount, my champion/sovereign appears sitting on the horse AND the horse is replicated ON TOP of him as well. It appears correctly in the medallion, but doesn't appear correctly on either the strategic or tactical map.

I'm not sure that was really a fair review. I hate these '5 things they did better and 5 they ...' type of reviews because I often feel that the author is trying to make the sides even up. There was SO much that was improved from WoM to FE that the author is only pointing out a few of the highlights and certainly didn't do justice to the ones he mentioned. There are several things that could make tactical battles a bit more fun and Brad has even mentioned that they are

Playing a game on a medium world. I researched Armor (Light Plate) and when finished I attempted to update my light calvery units that were outfitted in upgradable leather armor. Clicked on the Upgrade Armor button for the unit, the metal and gold were deducted from my stores but the armor didn't upgrade. I did this for several units without success. Earlier in the game I did successfully upgrade from no armor to leather and also was able to upgrade clubs to war maces. It appears

This bug still exists in tactical battle: https://forums.elementalgame.com/425512/page/1/#3216474 Someone found a loophole for changing equipment and while you can do it, it doesn't work correctly HOWEVER, you can purchase items from your store or trade items (like healing items) which DO appear the following turn for the hero in tactical battle. I would love to have this addressed so that we CAN ch

Note to Stardock, This bug STILL exists in the current build. Although you switch equipment, switching from a melee weapon to a bow doesn't work, although it might work if you switched only melee weapons. However, what you CAN do is access the store and buy healing items which DO appear on the hero the following turn. I would REALLY like the ability to switch weapons in tactical combat. You give us many specialized weapons, it's a shame that we can't choose the bes

I too am a big supporter of Steam, although I haven't purchased 100 games like the previous post, everything I've purchased over the last couple of years has been via steam unless Steam didn't offer the game immediately (like ME3, where I had to go with Origin). Steam has been great about constantly keeping my games updated and when I have to make a fresh install of my OS, there isn't any looking for disks, entering license keys or sitting in front of the computer wait

I really wouldn't mind it so much if it was a quid-pro-quo type of arrangement, however if you go into one of those AI territories, they are quick to tell you to get out. Telling them to get out every turn is painful (as well as it I suspect it changes their outlook toward you - suggestion: maybe once you do, they won't try again for 20 turns). I would rather have a Open Borders arrangement that you can negotiate with a turn maximum (say a 10 turns version and 99 turn version)

Just finished playing about 200 turns on a medium world, all AI players and custom faction on Challenging difficulty. 1. The AI is much better and much more challenging. Monsters are more of a threat and seem to be a lot smarter about both attacks and using magic. The monsters were much better at taking out undefended outposts and Arcane Monoliths as well as attacking nearby units. Kudos Brad! 2. Met Magnar early in the game and he almost immediately declared war on me. His fi

Okay, this is just my opinion, but after playing this new version of the game, I have these observations and comments from a players standpoint. First, I love the changes in this version, there is a lot to like about the game. Faction differentiation is looking good, the random worlds are fun, tactical combat is getting better, spells and magic items are more interesting and visually exciting, the AI is somewhat challenging. The game is leagues better than the current st

Bow development and armor advances pretty much go hand in hand as I recall my warfare history. When Shortbows were introduced into army warfare, heavy leathers and eventually chain mail was ultimately developed to give the more important units some measure of protection. Then Longbows came along to allow the archers more distance from the front line but give them enough power to penetrate studded leather armor and most versions of chain. Light Plate mail was developed to count

Bingjack, It was version .86. I pretty much solo my heroes unless I come accross what might be a difficult monster or AI stack and then I would join them together (I did that maybe 3 times). Most of my heroes are 5-7th level and my sovereign is 12th?, perhaps 11th. I usually play with dense monsters which probably offsets the effect of the slower leveling.

I happen to be in the group that thinks that the game is 'good' but not there yet. I've read through many of the suggestions here and feel many have some merit and I'm sure that Brad and Kiel will think about all of them. Here is my thought about the strategic portion of the game. I saw a post in the forums where a player said that he played the game basically out of one city, with no taxes and did not build a single improvement that cost maintenance. The result

I agree, we should be able to swap out a weapon, however, there is no reason why it has to take a turn to do so. There are plenty of times where using a bow vs. a melee weapon makes sense for a tactical turn or two and there is no reason that the AI couldn't use this as well. In fact, it would make the AI more effective to use a distance weapon when it can't do anything else.

Tasunke, Sorry, but I don't understand your point. My point was that making you build 4 or 5 towers that take some 40 (on the low end, by a stage 4 city) to 90 (on the high end, a stage 2 city) for each tower and then spend another 25 turns to cast the spell is a bit over the top. If we took a poll of how often this strategy is used, I suspect it would be lower than 10% (way lower IMO). So is having a game mechanic that is used by perhaps less than 1 in 10 players
