Good suggestions. This had kind of bothered me as well, especially considering that one of the premises of the game is that it takes place some years after a cataclysmic event destroyed much of the old civilizations. With that background, I kind of expected much larger areas of very dangerous territory, i.e. the wildlands.

My Magic 8 Ball told me that Beta 4 would be released sometime between now and December 31st. I have a really good feeling about that prediction. In fact, if you go off and fiddle around with some other game for a while, I bet you'd find that before you know it, presto! Beta 4 will be here! [e digicons]:meow:[/e] And honestly, if you don't want to believe my Magic 8 Ball, then there really is little else I can do for you at this time.
Quoting vesa2, reply 5Please please please fix that font-from-the-80's before actual release. The game has plenty of good, some bad, but having oversized non-AA'd badly designed fontblast from the past is the only thing that I just can't handle in a modern game. After looking at the texts of the screenshots I had to actually go outside and breath some fresh air. Fffrggffr. What are you talking about?
I guessing it's a bug as well, though I wish I could help more by knowing what it was specifically that caused the problem. It seems that others have not had a problem with finishing this quest, so it must have been something specific that happened in my game. And yeah, it wasn't just 1 troll camp, it was like 3 of them, as well as a gold mine, a place to harvest death mana, and another mana shard as well thought I can't remember now which type it was. So tantalizing
Oh yes, I looted all the lairs. The only thing left in the area on the map are the places where you can recruit trolls, assuming you can ever get control of the area that is. And yes, I have had my armies move through each of those spaces as well. In fact, I've had my various armies move through every hex in the swamp and had no other encounters of any kind. In any case, I've moved on now to another game, and if I run into another Plagueland swamp I'll see
I encountered the plaguelands swamp wildlands area in the game I'm currently playing, and despite killing all the creatures, destroying all their lairs, and killing Morian the Ruin of Summer, the area is still showing as wildlands and the quest on the right side of the screen still says 'Clear the Scarred Tiles to heal this diseased land'. As this is the first time I've encountered this wildlands zone, there could be something I'm missing on what needs to be done, th
I also find nothing wrong with Maul. It's a dangerous ability to be sure and it can easily kill your sovereign or a champion if you are unlucky or don't have very good dodge. This is just one more thing you need to take into account when you go up against something with that ability. It often requires you to use lesser units as fodder while you take down the mauling creature from range or with magic. Or even better, a concentrated effort to slow and/or immobili
I doubt that the MSRP will be $70 at release unless it is a collectors edition of some sort or they are including a whole lot of extra stuff in each game box. I would think more like $50. Going back to the OP, in regards to multiplayer, that will certainly be added to the game, probably sooner rather than later as it is an important component for many, but from what they have said it won't be available at initial release. Since the team concept is already in the game,
While I would like to see a bit smoother tech progression as well as some more techs, I think the biggest thing I would like to see would be to merge the three tech trees into just one tree. This would also allow one to see the whole tech situation and progression better as well as show more clearly the tech inter-relationships.
I must agree that the bit about the AI sovereign's death resulting in the end of their kingdom/empire needs to go. The only time that should happen would be early on if they get killed before founding a city. Pass control of the killed sovereign's lands over to an heir or a champion; if one isn't available then then the game should create one and make that NPC the new sovereign. If you want to get cute and add a bit more flavor then when the lands don't go to an heir make th
Interesting. What are your difficulty settings? Edit: NM, I see in the OP you stated normal difficulty. Well, I've been seeing mixed results myself on this. A two out of five game starts did have abundant resources nearby, but that is a rather small sample to pull from. I will say though that in another thread, https://forums.stardock.com/393225 , there h
So right now I see a lot of people trying to ram down the OP's throat the idea that the game needs to have a more complex tactical system regardless of whether the OP likes it or not, yes? Please take note of the last line in the 1st paragraph up there in the OP, and accept that this person doesn't want a more complex system. There are also other players here and elsewhere who have said the same, and I don't think it's fair to belittle or talk down to this person just because they
Wow, this old argument again. Boy, that really took me by surprise to see it again here. Anyway, I will say that of course, your arguments in favor of the hexagon as the grid for regulating movement is sound, and thus the reason that it became the system that was chosen by board wargaming years ago for their maps; like as in the 1960's years ago, back when this argument first really got going. Scary that I know that, but I digress. The real point here, just as
That wall of text did more damage to me than my sov can do with magic. :/ Heh - you'd make an excellent director at my company. I will let them know. There are folks that I have to write 1 line responses to on the most complex issues or I am certain to get a phone call to have me explain
I hear that, though in my case I would amend your line to say 'There are ^lots^ of folks...'. Wow, some rather hostile bro slinging going on over here. [e classic]:hot:[/e] Anyway, I think you were just quite lucky, I just started a 1.06 game after the patch and researched a couple of the 'reveal' type adventuring techs, but I don't have anything near my starting city like you do; just 1 fertile ground, a gold deposit and a somewhat distant library. Of course if that starts happening consistently with having a ton of nearby resources, then there m
Agreed, the LoTR one looks great, as does the Song of Ice and Fire, Dragonlance, Dying Sun, the Expanded Edition, just to name a few. And those are just the total conversion mods. There is also a race mod started up, several game mechanics mods, as well as several graphic and texture mods. And this is still early on. As more tools become available, and more is revealed about how things work in the game...well, as I said, the potential is huge. And I think becau
Despite the fact that 1.06 is now out, what the OP is discussing here still has merit since the items mentioned are not addressed with the patch. As I have a similar gaming background as you somchaay, I as well have felt that aspects of the game seem unfinished. The rush, for example, to get the tactical battle system changed and ready in the last few weeks before release, along with the quick but admittedly incomplete group of special abilities given to the units for combat.&nb

Nice post MOOMANiBE. I like how you included several screenies. Plus, the devs encourage posts like this so that they can see areas of the game that need improvement or fixing.
Interesting, I had thought this was only a problem with some nVidia cards, but I see that you have an ATI card Lord Cobol.
You know, if you're interested, a friend of mine has a gold ring that he got as a hand-me-down from his uncle that he'd like to sell for really cheap. It's just a smooth gold ring with no stones or markings on it, but the thing looks like it's brand new; no marks or scuffs on it at all. Supposedly if you heat the thing up a bit you can see some kind of writing on it, but I think he was just saying that to try and sell it faster. It really is a rather plain ring after all.&nb
Here is my personal take on this game after a bit of time with it and the beta that came before, and what I think Stardock is trying to accomplish with it. I am certainly not a professional reviewer, nor am I an over the top Stardock fanboy. I'm just a gamer who in addition to playing games, loves to tinker with them. And this last is what has moved me to make this rather longish post as I've not seen as much discussion on this as I'd like to see. If you want to know w

I would suggest that you ask this question over in the Elemental Mods area with the intent of finding out what people would like to see in a Master of Magic mod of this game rather than speculate on something that isn't going to happen. A Master of Magic mod of this game is at least within the realm of possibility given some time and support.
Nice! The packaging looks cool, and having it all laid out like that really shows how many extras you get with the Limited Edition. However... GAH! This isn't making it any easier to wait for my copy! [e digicons][/e] [e digicons]:dur:[/e] [e digicons][/e]
