We should have a preset maps for begginers. Maps with cozy setup places, as well as time dependant number and spawning agressivness..
Well I have not played on it, but the non-random maps are advised as maps for beginning players.

Hi Chibia, could you share a link to your vids, please?
I have been playing the game and watching others do it via Let's Play videos, but the more I play the more I wonder why it's so simple to gather information about your enemies. You can always click on a city, check its power and even its build queue. Wouldn't it be much more interesting if this info was only available after a successful spying mission? Perhaps the info you can get without a spy is incomplete or only and estimate, until you have proper means
Here's another piece of advice: When you get an equal amount of people complaining the game's too hard with those claiming it's too easy, you've succeeded.
Not neccessarily true. As has been pointed out above and acknowledged by Frogboy things can be a little out of wack from one extreme to the other resulting in people complaining or praising. Many people post after a
AFAIK the city name is always mentioned in the text on the lower part of the city levelup popup window. I never had a problem figuring out which city got levelled. I do agree with the points Das brought up, though. The event icons on the right of the screen are easily overlooked and ergonomically its not very convenient to have to scan left and press end turn right. The tactical battle issues are valid, but I think I've seen mentioned they are working on this.
I had expected to see Ceresa there among you guys, though. She's about the scariest sovereign in the game. Funny picture no less. :)
Thanks. I didn't realise that. Case closed. [e digicons]:banhammer:[/e] [e digicons]^_^[/e]
Oh that is a facepalm moment right there on the upgrade bit! [e digicons]:|[/e] [e digicons]:P[/e] But why is it shown as a seperate icon in the build menu? Will it only show up if the building that upgrades into it is already present? About the land features, I am not yet able to raise/lower or drain lands. This seriously hampers my development at the moment. Thanks for the input!
I might be missing something, but I am running into something confusing; In two of my cities I have two single tiles (next to eachother) of free space in my city's range of infuence where certain improvement icons show up when I try to build them, but others (like a School for example) cannot seem to be built, eventhough the space is there aparently? Or does the School need 4 tiles perhaps? Is the needed tilesize shown somewhere? Another thing I noticed is that you
Very well done, Das! I especially enjoyed your throrough explanation of gameplay mechanics.
Even with a download manager I am still getting corrupted download packages, unfortunately...
Can you confirm this is the exact same document still as the one the CE owners of WoM got in hardcopy? It's a nice read!
I agree with most of the above. A creative way to let us treat the wounded would be very much appreciated. It may just as well be something that takes time, but at least give us a way to rehabilitate our beloved heros!
I leave it off for now. I don't like the 'directly overhead camera angle' so to speak. Besides it doesn't do justice to the magnificent city either, because it makes the picture look flat. It would be cool to have a different angle. More isometric and perhaps swoop the zoom in towards the finishing building with a slow animation. Then I think I would leave it on. But I am also very much in favor of a HoMM-esque city detail view.
Can you pass the popcorn, please. I don't like pizza's. [e digicons][/e]
First you post a thread about Derek sleeping, then this? [e digicons]:-"[/e] Are you working on your post count or what? ;)
It's good to see a positive post like this. I agree on the general direction as well. It's good to see the effort SD has already put into turning it around for the better. Coupled with the offer they made on the free expansion packs I don't think I have any right to keep bitching about the game and we should look forward, like you do as well. If they keep up the good work and will be true to their promises I have no doubt Elemental will live up to its expectation it had before initial
^Well said, JayJay. I look at it the same way. There are no grounds to claim that there should be less incompatibility problems between software and hardware nowadays then before. There are also so many variables which could cause said incompatibility or CTDs of software thats it too easy to say its bad programming on the part of the software's devs.
Are they working to fix it and do they deserve some credit for that? Of course and even more for being honest about it, they are even trying to make it good. However that doesn't make me like the game more, or a whole lot happier about buying it.
And right you are, but aparently it comes down to the age-old glass is half full/half empty issue. You're clearly missing my point (like so
@ebelser: First of all most are not 'rabid' defenders. Its about fairness and reality. Your 'tone' is exactly what I referred to in my previous post. Using words like 'rabid', 'battered gamers syndrome'. Can you come up with examples of why "every PC is different" defense doesn't cut it? I think its even more true nowadays then is was when we're still on our XT's. Now we have dozens of different hardware brands and hardware component types to mix and match. So howcome doesn'
A game called AI War has dozens of AI 'personalities', maybe its an idea to have a choice about what type of AI you want the other nations to have in the future versions of the game. Like a turtling AI, steamrolling AI, tech focussed AI, you name it. Not just a general difficulty setting. On the other hand, the AI in GalCiv 2 received lots of praise, so I am sure Elemental's will get better as well. :P
I am glad you understand what I meant. Indeed that's it and you summarised it in one sentence. [e digicons]|-)[/e]
Sure I understand that must be dissapointing. But the game runs without crashes on other systems as well. There are thousands of configs out there and unfortunately its a given fact that games might have problems with certain configs. But its unfair to say the game is broken just because it crashes on your particular PC. The fact that it does run without crashes on others proves that its not the game alone, but a combination of game/PC config, but that wasn't my point in my previous
Though I am sympathetic to the players experiencing the CTD's, I agree about the attitude issue brought up above; There is no denying Elemental was not in a good shape upon release. SD confirmed that on several accounts and has apologised for it. They even offer the first expansion free to anyone ordering until the end of the year and even the first AND second expansion free of charge for the early adopters! How's that for an apology, huh? [e digicons]k6[/e] Do the compla
I was just wondering how much Elemental resembles an MMO. The manual that came with the game initially is useless already and there is room for so much additional content! [e digicons][/e]
