SD has kept us up to date on all things happening so far (and did so for their other games), so just show a little patience and you'll see we'll get all the info we need in due time. In the campaign the exit box(es) blow brightly, I never saw that in tactical battles in the main game, so I supposed there was no way to retreat at all. :) First time I see that there aparently IS an exit box in those battles as well. ;)

xStarfirex I do agree as well. Some items of the world do seem detached. While there is nothing wrong with certains spawns due to research (Civ does this too) there has to be a balance between making the world desolate, but still keeping it interesting and suitably tactical. High level monsters are cool, but if they start to roam the map they can become a problem early on as we have seen in earlier builds of the game, so a different solution has to be found here
