Fences is great piece of software, but still missing some important features. If this thread will become active, add own wishes. 1. As first are roll-up options: possible roll-up is only top or bottom - but very useful can be rolling-up to left or right. 2. Navigation - missing or changed features: double click opens Fences folder portal in Windows Explorer. I think more useful can be (when is navigation enabled) that double click will navigate to parent folder.<br /

Feature request - Home folder button in Fences Stardock Forums

Hello! I'm using Fences long time - since version 2 - and in folder portals is for me migging feature - home button for portal. We can navigate but sometimes is fastest way to return to predefined folder to click any button, or press hotkey. Nice can be adding hotkey or simple home button (with user selection of position in title bar and picture/icon representing it, also possible to turn off). Hello! I'm using 5 displays with my computer - 4 as desktops and 1 as touch keyboard. OS: Windows 11.21H2.22000.348 x64 Pro I have only two displays with touch support. Really I know QTabBar and was using until Windows 10 was released. In Windows 8/8.1 was working correctly, but in Windows 10 began slowing OS and some features were many times not possible to set correctly. It is smilar problem like ObjectDock - now sadly must to use Nexus dock, and I left QTabBar too and won't to install it in new clean Windows 11 installation. BTW: I prefer portability for avoiding system fill... So, I hope that Stardock will enable Explorer replacement to use

Is possible to use File Explorer replacement with folder portals in Fences 4? in Fences Stardock Forums

Hi! I'm using Fences long years and since there is navigation I'm using folder portals. I wanted always to use Explorer replacement but in Fences 3 it was problem. When I replaced Explorer by XYplorer, it always in folder portals opened XYplorer window instead navigation. Is possible in Fences 4 use Explorer replacement and leave folder portals navigation untouched? Or is it not implemented (yet)? Thank you all. Miro

Please don't forget to allow use of alternative File Managers for navigation in folder portals. Example: when is XYplorer set as default file manager, when I try to go to subfolder in folder portal it always displays XYplorer window instead moving into subfolder in folder portal. This is very important feature - I think many of us are not satisfied with Windows Explorer. Miro

Very important in my case is to allow in Fences config to have option to select file manager which will be used when is Fences folder portal opened in. If I'm using another file manager than Windows default File Explorer Fences navigation works not - after clicking to any folder in folder portals always opened in that file manager. It will make Fences much more powerful. Miro

Very useful feature can be to allow Fences with rolling up turned on to show topmost of all windows if are activated. Also useful can be to allow to create keyboard shortcut separate for each Fence to show topmost of all windows. Activation of rolling up Fences is not good solved - all mouse movements over titlebar rolls them down and it can have option to activate only at mouse click. I think useful will be creating Fences backup form menu - instead of manually search folders and after reinstallation manually recover. This is one big problem what caused also two times reinstallation of Fences to get Fences back. Miro

I'm many times changing folder by "choose different folder" - best way is to have in title bar on the right edge two buttons - "Home" and "Select folder" buttons. It will be useful for return to default folder (for example used by current selection) and to have choice for temporary folder for navigation. It makes more flexible and useful. I was inspired by Cairo shell replacement. Miro

Default file manager changed - how to leave folder portals navigation untouched? in Fences Stardock Forums

Hi! I'm using as main file manager XYplorer instead Explorer. I tried to replace it, but then is navigating in folder portals not possible, it always after double clicking shows in XYplorer. I know that's for file manager exchange, but is it possible to override? Make it same like with default File Explorer? New very useful feature can be to have option to create tabs in fences or folder portals. Simply - many times fences are rolling up/down and for this is easier to switch tabs and also useful it is for desktop place reducing. Miro

Ok, understand these steps, but I do it not - I'm waiting for Windows 10.2004 release and filesystem is maybe corrupted by this installation tests. After install I do these steps and will report if it will not work. Filesystem integrity repair can also cause corruption of important files and it is not easy to get them back. Ok, but sad is that only at this point is here any reply from Stardock. Like time was going, I began searching for alternative, but found only Cairo... and somethings can be used in Fences. Else one question to Stardock support: What with Object Dock? I was trying latest version and I see that development ended at 2014. Since I upgraded to Windows 10 I left it for problems, but now at 1909 update and last installation in January 2020 it works correctly, or I found not yet
