Yes, this is the number one most irritating UI quirk, since it makes finding units that can move either tedious or impossible depending on your willingness to sit through clicking or tabbing many many times. They don't even seem to sort to last in the cycle.

I found the fact that cities capture intact somewhat suprising too. The only counter-balance to it that I can see is that the improvements take up precious space--buildable squares--and so if you keep two of them for some purpose, you are reducing your real estate for other buildings.
Big hearty GIANT endorsement of everything the most generous original poster has said. Please take his criticisms to heart; many of the suggestions are spot on as well. Especially the tiny tiny tiny button issue. I would add that given that manual is.... lacking.... as I have ranted before and elsewhere, the tooltips are very important. An in game concept and UI mechanics help system is

Bellack, Obviously, it was not as big an obstacle to you as to me, but it is not appropriate to say that my comments are ridiculous. Given that there are more than one thread of people indicating that they have given up playing, or will wait a month to play, for the exact reasons I outline, I am obviously not alone here. How to play a game should not be a puzzle. The challenge should be in succeeding at the game. If you figured out the U
Insert here rant on lack of player documentation.... However, I disagree with the point that it is premature to complain prior to the day-0 patch. While I comment Stardock for their history and practice of providing on-going support, remember that this game is also sold in a retail box, and many of those purchasers will not be sufficiently internet savvy to every get any patch. So the initial experience will be their only experience. Imagine the consequences
I am sorry, but I cannot agree with any of the positive comments in this thread for one simple reason: the product has no effective manual or documentation, and that isn't even MENTIONED in the change list. Lest you believe I am here to trash Stardock, I will point out that I have been buying your games since GalCiv on OS/2. I installed OS/2 to play the darn thing. The game is completely unplayable without any sort of end user documentation. The manual does n
Dash, thank you for your very courteous reply. As much as I love Stardock, and try to buy everything I can through Impulse to support them, it is a shame that you had to answer these questions which the manual should have covered. In terms of my army not attacking, I am playing the first scenario in the campaign, and this has happened with spiders and those other monsters, I think they are Ogres but I have quit the game as unplayable so I don't recall what they were.
More basic questions the manual doesn't answer, that cause me to find this game to be unplayable right now because I cannot figure out the UI let alone try to intuit the game play concepts. I evidently moved my only remaining unit (an army) in the city.... now it seems to have disappeared? Where is it? How do I get it back? Is it possible to scale the UI elements for those of us with older eyes, or who maybe play on HDTVs that are farther
I played the game an hour or so today, and go nowhere. Read the manual, stupid! So I did. Where is the REAL manual? The current manual is a combination of fluffy background text, and summary of some of the higher level concepts. Where are the answers to the basic mechanical questions about the game such as (just from my first play session): What causes a turn to end? Is that why my unit will sometimes not move? H
