I give up for now.

This is so frustrating.  I have been waiting earnestly for this game for some time now.  I truly appreciate all of the hard work Stardock has put into this project, but it has become unplayable.  The 0 day patch fixed the problem for me of complete framerate shutdown and lagging, but a whole new problem has arisen that I just can't get by.  Nearly every turn or so, the game crashes, for seemingly every input I could give, and completely random.  I can't predict what will cause a crash to desktop, but I can correctly predict that it will happen regardless of what I do.

For every minute I try to play the game, forty-five seconds are spent restarting the game and loading my save game.

I'll wait for a new patch, and then try again.  I have a feeling that this will be an ongoing process.

I know Stardock was ahead of schedule, because I've been keeping up with the forums, I just wish that more time was spent in fixing the bugs.  I could have waited much longer for something more polished.

I'm not worried, though, looking at the forums, it seems a lot of people are having some of these outstanding issues.  I've been a longtime Stardock fan, and I know they will be working overtime in regards to fixing these issues.  They're one of the few companies I can depend on to really keep the community happy.

Sort of sucks, though.  Having the game and not being able to play it... such a tease.

Maaaybe when my desktop gets here on Thursday, the different specs would work better for this game.  It's a freaking powerhouse, so hopefully that helps.

I'm with you.  Been looking forward to this game for a long time.  Pre-ordered and everything.  Now I crash from what seems to be a memory leak within about 10-15 minutes of playing, requiring a reboot each time.  It's beyond annoying.  Learned my lesson - I'll wait to order the game next time until it's been out for awhile.

Giving up before the day 0 patch is pretty premature isnt it?? The 0 day patch isnt here yet. It was a smal interim patch yesterday.

Same problem here....though still got crappy performance to boot....

I wish I had your willpower, frustrating as it is...I find myself restarting the game every 5 minutes after a crash, cursing a few times then enjoying the minute and a half I get before I repeat...

I do hope these issues get fixed soon though....I can only imagine how much more enjoyable the game will be minus these hiccups.

Like he said, we're giving up until a new patch comes in.  Still, very frustrating.

We'll see.  It doesn't sound like the day 0 patch was intended to fix any bugs.  More of a polishing/content patch.  We'll see if it fixes the memory leak issues.

@dawgs4ever - have you actually read frogs post about the 0 day patch??? There is much ado about performance and such

Another thing that would help is for you to post the error files as per stardocks instructions on how to do it, that way they can look at it and LEARN from it. Also try to update all your gear yada yada you know, you might feel bad after you find out its a old driver or something.....

I too had performance problems until I read that there was a new Nvidia driver available for laptops.  Solved 95% of the issues and my game does not crash any more.  What other company releases a day early and has a patch ready the next day?  Be grateful, not gripe full, I say.

Think yourselves lucky..... Stardock and Impulse wont let me even Download the game I purchased back in January.

I'm pretty pissed off, as I consider the transition from BETA to Full version as basic. Still waiting to hear from Support!

Insert here rant on lack of player documentation....

However, I disagree with the point that it is premature to complain prior to the day-0 patch.  While I comment Stardock for their history and practice of providing on-going support, remember that this game is also sold in a retail box, and many of those purchasers will not be sufficiently internet savvy to every get any patch.   So the initial experience will be their only experience.

Imagine the consequences to Stardock's reputation if the major outlet reviewers review the retail version....

What SAJ said.

Remember Stardock's Bill of Rights? One of the points reads:

  • Gamers shall have the right to demand that games be released in a finished state.

Physical copies are already being sold in stores. Stardock is still working on the day 0 patch.
