Well, I can sympathize with the defeated enemies. I've tried 2 games starting out as Procipinee, and gotten killed by monsters both times. The poor girl is supposed to be an awesome channeler, but she doesn't start with even one offensive spell. Even with split XP, units are much safer in stacks of doom...even if the snowball takes longer to get rolling. Also, the major issue is that there's no reason to use all the cool units since champions still rule in packs. They need to figure out how to make units more needed. By the time I can get a few military units rolling in the slow production system, I have 4-5 champions kicking ass. I may actually use units if they were produced separately t
I love the way Heroes of Might and Magic does it. You need 1 leader to create an battalion/army. You find new leaders to create extra battalions to explore the world. And each army fought a little different depending on which hero-type leader you have, caster, melee, etc... I think this game would work better with faster producing armies and only 1 leader/champion allowed to run each group.
I still say all magic schools should have 1 damaging spell for early game survival of a pure caster sovereign. An ice shard (hell, even a hard-packed snowball!) or earthen rock/stone would help diversify what people are using in the game.
So does anything that says "movement" count on both maps? I seem to remember some movement-based equipment not adding movement on the strategic map.
Yeah, an ice shard attack would be nice.
So when it says it reduces the base cost...is that base cost the production value or the cost to maintain them?
Sweet thanks for the info guys. Another example of the difficulty was that 'return the noble daughter home' quest. As much as I didn't want to be a prick, I had to sell her to the bandits cos they were just impossible for me to beat at low level.
Haha, that's actually funny! "Sorry woman, I don't have any money to get home. Here you go fellas, how about 100 gildars?"
It's a single player game. How you play doesn't have an impact on anyone else. Why would a developer not give players both options? Give elitist players an ironman mode so they can play with crippled heroes and horrible situations (heck, even perma-death!) if they so choose. Let those who save scum (like me, I always thought of a game as me creating my own personal fantasy fiction experience) do so as they wish, reloading to avoid situations that would make the
I'd like to see more than pathing...maybe I'm missing it but a visible way to determine which units still have movement allowance each turn would be appreciated.
Just got through the tutorial and started a new game. I didn't play WoM all that much, and couldn't find a manual for FE, so was wondering if: 1) There is a quicksave/load option? 2) How to use throwing weapons like knives? My hero had a staff and throwing knives equipped (and was within 3 squares), but I didn't find a way to throw them. 3) At level up I had a lot of common traits and 1 rare trait.&nb
Yeah, I also came here to share that movement allowance needs to be more...visible. Adding a little more info would be great.
Brad, something I have on a fridge magnet from Emerson: Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. This is about all I can offer. I'm sorry things have been rough for you guys, and I sincerely hop
The issue is that a reviewer should be discussing the game, not forum posts the developer made to a friend of his (and the quote was taken out of context). Even Tom Chick wrote a major "f*ck off" to Tom Francis for using his forums in such a way. It causes developers not to visit forums, which would be a major loss for all.

Well, not sure about your issue, but I get the feeling last night's patch *did* indeed bork a lot of campaign details. I know a lot of folks like myself now can't get past Procipinee's barricade no matter what we do. Maybe this is related?
I can't get past the blockade in the campaign, and this has been reported by others in various threads.
To add to the blockade quest, If i remember correctly after saving the city, and then wiping out the lair, i still needed to go back to talk with queen porcupine before i could get through the blockade, not sure if you did that or not. I recall getting a message after I beat the darkling lair that made me think i could just go through the blockade, and I couldn't so I went back to the queen.
Nope, I've gone back to try everything, including talking to her again, but nad
Does this bork a previously saved campaign? I saved my game having got the ok to go through Procipinee's blockade...updated game, loaded save, went to barricade and I can't figure out how to get through even though my quest log says I have permission...
Well, my quest log says I have permission...yet I can't seem to cross the barrier. Did I miss something?
That's....odd. Heh.

My big question is...what do you do with your starting leaders? Most have no fighting skills, so exploring would be a death sentence. Do you guy stack them all together? Give them weapons? Leave anyone in the first town for some reason? Is there anything to do with them besides initial exploration and/or banding together to fight the early mobs?
