I've put the game away until V.2.5 comes out, or maybe forever, and here's a few of the reasons why. Game takes entirely too long to load, both from start and to load a saved game. No other game or program I own takes 1/4 as long. Units don't always move to assigned distant locations, esp. sovereign. Put 2 or 3 units guarding a resource then later add another, the last unit can't guard or fortify. Hard to tell what's going on at the end of a turn: long pause

Uummm. Interesting. I took a look and found that I'm the only one with a positive cash flow (albeit far behind in research and other matters!?!), but the negative values are very small: one is about -4, all the others are -.02 or something similar. I'll wait to see if 1.08 helps, but it's beginning to look as if I've bought another lemon. Thanks anyway!

The end-of-turn pauses are really getting to me. I've changed all the settings to the lowest performance, but that has not helped. My machine is a couple of years old so maybe that's it. I don't know. Does anyone else have this problem? I've quit playing hoping 1.08 will help, but I'm not optimistic. I'm beginning to think I've wasted my money...again!

Probably a dumb question, and maybe in the wrong place, but... Will patches be available for regular download, i.e. other than on Impulse? No luck finding them yet and I'm not interested in getting Impulse. I've got the standard game, puchased at Amazon.com. Thanks!

OK, I really like that idea. Probably a lot of programming involved, but it certainly might save on micromanagement. I've noticed that each time a game is "improved" it usually means some element (e.g. research) gets broken into many, many fragements or additional, pointless steps. So, for example, perhaps you could tell the AI to concentrate on (long range) or (short range) fire spell research for (25) turns then pop up a reminder for you to ev

Demiansky, I still play MOO2 and love it. But for me, what makes it great is the ability to upgrade individual ships. Send 'em to a planet with a starbase, make any changes you want (well, almost any) and a couple of turns later you've got a brand new, up-to-date ship. So you can, for instance, have a bunch of curisers all the same size but with many different capabilities. The possibilities are endless. There is a similar, but more limited, individual ship upgra

Wow, larienna, that touches a nerve for me. I, too, have been put off by endless, useless, additions to tech trees, especially the ones that lead to nothing more than another tech to research. Civ4, GalCiv2 and SE5 come quickly to mind, but they are not the only ones. If Elementals falls into that trap, I'm done with SD.

ShyannG, thanks for t he info. Went to the Archon site but it does not seem clear (to me) when or even IF the game will be available for the PC. If/When it is, I want it. Really enjoyed playing it on my first computer, a Comodore 64.
