What is...?

1)  Not sure how to ask this questions, but, what are crystals, what do they do, why are they important, how do you use them...etc.?

2)  Some spells require an "enchantment slot."  What's that, how do you get one (or more)?

3)  Trade and Caravans.  I seemed to have missed researching Trade and now can't produce caravans.  Is there a way to go back and pick up that tech?

4)  Some sites require Level X (2, 3, or 4, etc.) in order to enter them.  Does that "level" refer to city level, soverign level, research, what?

Thanks!

Read the manual...ooops, nevermind, manual is of NO use. ;)

1 Crystals are a resource, like farms and gold that pops up when you've researched enough (I think it's in Adventure tree).

2 Every time you cast a summons spell, it uses one of your "Enchantment" slots. These are found when you click on the spellcaster in one of the tabs next to Actions, Vitals, and then Enchantments.

3 You can't "miss" that research. It's one of the first in Diplomacy. You either haven't researched Diplomacy, or you've already built the maximum limit of Caravans per city (it's 1 at the beginning, later tech allows more).

4. that level is related to your Adventuring research, though I can't be more specific about which path within adventure (something to do with exploration).

Hope that helps and sorry the manual is so crap.. it just is.  Some links (like the Wiki) are trying to help with that.

1. If you are talking about Crystals from mining crystal crags, then they are used to build some of the later troops.

2.  Good question -- someone else?

3. Are you looking under the Diplomacy category (that is, for in the Kingdom tech tree?  Or Cooperation for the Empire tech tree).  I didn't think that it could be possible to skip that tech.  But I'm doing an experiment right now to see if I see the same thing.  If so, it's most likely a bug that I was unaware of.

4. That's referring to quest or notable location level, that comes from researching specific technologies in the Adventure/Domination trees.

In regards to #2... You active enchantments are listed in one of your character tabs (near action tab) when your soverign is selected. But I too have wondered how you get more or if it is possible. Also, one of the problems is it doesn;t list how many slots you have. It only show the active enchantments so i never know if i can cast another or not. If this stat is listed somewhere i have never seen it.

So i have a similar question. How do you know how many slots you have and is there a way to aquire more???

#4 - There are wo different levels - quest level and notable location level (goodie huts). When you mouse over on of these locations it will list the level of the location and your level. You need to be at the same level or higher to do the quest or get the goodie. You increase your level through research in the Adventure/domination tree. Warning however...the description of the techs needed to raise your level are not very clear and poorly worded. They don't actually say "raise your notable location level by 1". The descriptions are rather cryptic if you ask me and i have had to raise my level chosing research breakthroughs in a trial and error sort of way.

OK, thanks! Now I know about crystals and I know where to look for enchantment slots.  I'm in Kingdoms and pretty far into research, levels 8 to 10 or more in all.  But still no caravans and still at level 3 when I enter notable locations.  Re Alborrelli's link, it does explain what you get in research, but does not explain why I can't build caravans even after doing the research.  If it's a bug, it must reveal itself only on my computer...unless I'm doing something really, really wrong.
