Let's assume that you can break water up into hydrogen and oxygen with 100% efficiency, then burn the hydrogen also with 100% efficiency. What you'd have, at best is zero net energy output. Of course, it won't be 100% efficient, so instead of having energy generation, what you instead wind up with is an energy hog, a further burden on our energy usage with no gain at all. There's an old joke that says that the three laws of thermodynamics are: 1. Yo

I had a friend in college who was an astronomy major. He told me during one lecture, where the professor was writing some huge equations on the blackboard, and he started to run out of both english and greek letters, and he started using hebrew. I vote for hebrew...
There are a couple of made for TV movies that I liked that I should mention -- not sure if they are among my favorites, but they are definitely worth watching: "The Lathe of Heaven" (the original made for PBS, not the A&E remake) "Between Time and Timbuktu" -- I would LOVE to find a DVD of this, and I've looked all over the place for it, but I'm not sure it actually exists. Basically, it was a movie made for PBS ages ago that kind of combined scenes, themes, concep
My number 1 pick is easy: Bladerunner The remaining choices are more difficult so I'll list a few in no particular order: 2001 a Space Oddyssey, Gattaca, Sleeper, Forbidden Planet, Aliens, Brazil, Dark City, A Clockwork Orange
I will not deal with Gamestop -- I've only ordered from them twice before, and both times they screwed up my order. And when I complained I could get no help, just misinformation. When I got upset, they told me I could cancel my order, only the order would not show up in my order history. I had to contact support to cancel it. Then after cancelling it, it was still screwed up. I have never had as many problems buying games from any other company
But it's been a few months now, and though I know work has continued, and it's been patched, what do the folks here think? Is it worth buying now, or still a work in progress?
I don't remember where I first heard it, but one of my favorite quotes is: "Art is never finished, it's just abandoned". That said, I personally think it's worth buying now.
I have no strong feelings over multiplayer -- if it's there, it will be unlikely that I will use it. If it's not there, I won't miss it. But if others want it, then who am I to begrudge them?
BTW, here's some more evidence that the videos were hoaxes. Read it all and watch the videos -- they explain how it is known that they were digitally edited. http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/swift-blog/1207-is-dome-of-the-rock-ufo-video-a-hoax-.html As I said, there are people who do this kind of thing as a hobby -- I mean make fake photos and videos. Peo
I've never liked Japanese anime, but I've always been a big reader, and what I read more than anything else, is science fiction. None of the anime that other people have recommended has ever appealed to me in a big way. Some are better, some are worse, but I personally don't get the attraction to it. I'm not saying it's bad, I just can't connect to it. As far as comic books are concerned, I only started reading them in College, because I went to a very competitive
First of all, anyone who thinks that "The Fourth Kind" is a documentary, has to be on some real good drugs. In any case, this has been shown to be a hoax by a well known hoaxer : http://badufos.blogspot.com/ Back in the 1970s, I had a friend who had a hobby of creating fake UFO photos (this is the days before cheap video). It doesn't surprise me that people still do this kind of thing, especially with the reactions that you
Sovereign: "Hello Innkeeper. What seems to be the problem?" Innkeeper: "Cockroaches! Huge, Dirty, Filthy Cockroaches! We have them in our cellars, in our pantry, even in the kitchen and dining areas! I just hate Cockroaches, and it's ruining our business. I will reward you handsomely if you rid me of these darned rats" Sovereign: "You do know I'm your Sovereign..." Innkeeper "Yes, m'lord. But I heard about y
I couldn't get through the tutorial -- at some point an info window appeared at the center of my screen, and would not go away. I couldn't see anything in the middle of the screen. Also, movement is kind of screwy (zero path finding, can't use the keyboard, etc.). The part I saw did not feel at all rpgish, but then again, I gave up on it pretty early. It's definitely not for me.
I haven't played in a while so I don't know if this is a new bug, a known bug from 1.1, or whatever: When a unit is destroyed, I just noticed that the game still considers the unit as active, with 0 hp. If it's a summoned unit, that means that you still pay mana for it until you dispell the spell. If it's a built unit, it still is listed in your unit list with zero hp (and probably are still paying maintenance on it, though I did not confirm that at the time). In a
I have both. I like them both, but they are not the same. Sins has less depth to it (by necessity, since it's rts, as opposed to turn based). I think Sins is the more casual of the two, while Sots has more depth. I prefer Sots overall, but that's because I prefer turn-based strategy games. On the other hand, I tend to not like rts games, but Sins is one of the only exceptions to that.
I've been playing since beta and I have a ton of custom leaders created -- is there a way to get rid of any or all of them, other than deleting and reinstalling the game?
Some of the oblivion magic mods that were created for it were phenomenal -- vanilla magic system was somewhat flawed.
I just tried the latest release, and the game locked up after around 50(?) turns. I had to use task manager to exit from it.
As for most RPG's with good/evil paths, I find they usually fall into the "lawful stupid" / "psychotic evil" faux paths. These are the least interesting archtypes, partly because they're so heavily overdone, and partly because the character is so one-dimension.
This goes back to the fiction itself, which is filled with B or C-list writers churning out the same trash over and over again. And far too m
I'm playing a sneaky scientist with maxed gun skills for my first play-thru. While it seems that there are a lot fewer computer terminals to hack in FNV than in FO3 (which kinda makes some sense), science does open occasional dialog options (not enough, though). I've noticed that some quests seem to require other skills to complete that I currently lack sufficient knowledge of (everything from Medicine to Speech/Barter skills to Repair and Lockpicking). While
I've downloaded a bunch of different maps for Elemental prior to this evening, and have used them in the past without any difficulty. Now, my game crashes when I try to use a downloaded map. I can use a randomly generated map without difficulty. I've tried this with a few different maps and have crashed each time. Can anyone else confirm this as a bug?
I just started playing Civ V yesterday. Comparing Civ V to E:WoM is not exactly fair. E:WoM is a brand new product built, built essentially from scratch, directed towards hardcore 4X gamers. Civ V is designed to be both for the hardcore group, and to introduce the genre to new players, with its shiny graphics, and music and interface. As far as problems are concerned, maybe I haven't played it long enough to find them, but Civ V seems to me to be pretty polished
Let me say first of all, that I think that with the last patch, the game is starting to look a lot better. That said, I have some requests/ideas for future changes. Forgive me if others have suggested the same things. 1. When a city levels, I'd like to be able to view the current area that the city controls before I decide what bonus to give it. Currently, I have to guess which city is which, and I often guess wrong. 2. When I have several heroes exploring ru
Both my Fire and Stone Giants miss every time now with their ranged attacks -- so if they are 'overpowered', I'm just not seeing it. I have a feeling that both are bugged.
Maybe it's because I generally play on normal difficulty, but I do not find the AI to be too warlike. If they sense weakness, then yes, they can attack. But often there are warning signs (like demanding tribute). We are not talking about the modern world, remember. This is a fantasy world, and most (not all) fantasy worlds are loosely based on the middle ages, a dangerous time for more reasons than just disease and famine. Hell, the pope would declare a crusade
And "organized" is one of the few skills that helps keep the pace of the game, when I would otherwise get bored and quit because of some of the bugs and such.
If you've been following the forums, Organized has been considered overpowered by many players. Personally, I'd favor removing Organized entirely, but adding powerful (expensive) spells to replace it, for those who want to go the magic route. <
