Well, I'm using 2.30a[b].184, build: 121 now. It still restarted on me. Also, before I was downloading version 1.0X.009 and now I'm downloading 1.0X.008 [rc]. What's up with that? Where did 1.0X.009 go? Anyway, I found that exiting Stardock Central and manually copying the partially downloaded file seems to work. Actually, I can't get 1.0X.008 [rc] at all. I'm downloading the tutorials and multimedia now.

Well, there are two things I figured out. 1. If you copy over the temp files (as described above), you should be safe from Stardock Central restarts. 2. There is a new beta of Stardock Central available, that allegedly fixes the problem. You go to Tools->Settings and click the option that lets you download beta versions of Stardock Central, and then restart Stardock Central and install the new version. Personally, I'm doing both (1) and (2). I'm surpr

One thing that Frogboy said he was going to add, but hasn't yet, was being able to fine-tune the difficulty. That is, if 200% is too much of an obstacle, you might be able to try 190% or 180%. (I.e., being able to explicitly enter the resource handicap the AI gets.)

Seriously, all Stardock Central is doing is acting as a front end to a secure HTTP connection The problem is that there's no provision for what happens when that connection is interrupted. I made it to 50% again. My internet connection failed, and Stardock Central reset me to 0% again. Here's an experiment. Try downloadi

OK, Frogboy, I E-Mailed him. I'm also putting a copy of my E-Mail here so you can make sure he takes it seriously. Notice that I'm also giving specific advice for how to solve the problem. ==== I'm having trouble downloading GalCiv 2. The problem is that the download program keeps restarting over and over again at 0%. I can make it to 50% or 60%, but then something happens and the connection resets. If you look on the "STICKY : Getting the Game Downloaded" th

That still didn't work. I had Stardock Central crash on me. It was at the same time the dialog "Do you want to download a new Stardock Central" appeared on screen. It made me start over again after the crash! I'm starting to get annoyed (but I expect that Stardock will someday fix their buggy download client).

I did post a trouble ticket, [#YAV-373873], and I was somewhat unsatisfied with the response I received. The tech support guy told me "uninstall Stardock Central and then reinstall it". However, looking at the version numbers shown in "Help -> About", it's the same version. However, it hasn't restarted on me since then. I'm at 48% and hoping to make it this time. With all the restarts, I've downloaded more than 300% of the game by now. Why should reinstalling Stardock C

I was looking at this some more. For GalCiv 1, the download was broken into a bunch of little files. For GalCiv 2, it's just one big file. For GalCiv1, where it's a bunch of little files, if the download is interrupted, you can go back to the last complete file you downloaded. Can you change the download process for GalCiv 2 so that it's a bunch of little files instead of one big file? This way, when Stardock Central loses its connection, I don't have to start over from scratch?

I have been having trouble downloading via a dialup connection. I have the latest stardock central (2.30.376). The problem is that when my connection gets dropped, I keep getting forced to start over again at 0%. I'm aware that it's a multi-day download via dialup. The problem is that I keep having to start over with my download. (I'm worried about tonight's patch; I just got it to 50% again, and I'm worried that the patch is going to force me to start over again after it's releas

Actually, it's $5 less if you buy direct from Stardock via totalgaming.net. If you buy 10 tokens, they cost $70 and the game costs 5 tokens. (I.e., $35) If you say "what am I going to do with the other 5 tokens", you know that there's likely going to be an expansion, or other stardock games, or other nice games already available on totalgaming.net.

I'm confused now. If I buy the game through stardock central, I'm using 5 tokens (saving the other 5 for the expansion, since you buy 10 at a time). If I order this way, do I get a hardcopy also, or do I *ONLY* get the electronic copy. That would justify a $5 price difference (no physical copy if you buy with tokens) Also, why can't I post on the galciv2 web forum. I used to be able to post. Do I need to buy the game in order to be able to post?

How about having more than one kind of money, just like there are 3 kinds of weapons? You don't want to have lots of different resources to track, but having maybe 3 kinds of currency would be better.
