it never takes up more than 10 MB on my laptop. that is with the dock in full view, and mouseing over an icon. it has to do with how many docks you have, how many tabs you have, how many icons are showing at the moment (i have no more than 6 in a single tab), and what visual effects and transition settings you are using.
If I had a dollar for each customer's computer that was LOADED with spyware and viruses but had AOL Security Center updated and running, I'd have enough money to go buy legitimate security software. AOL's security is to spyware as a squirt gun is to a forest fire.

yeah they also look like they include some spyware, as you are downloading an executable file. they aren't windowblinds files by any stretch of the imagination.

jemaho's skin is pretty nice, but i use large icons and the start menu is horribly misaligned with vista 1.5 (his latest, i believe). plus i like the black and silver themes that kol included as a nice alternative to transparency.
LOL that IS kol's skin. i can tell for many reasons (same name, beta 1 and beta 2 subskins, black, silver, and glass colors, and alternate start bars). plus if you go to the link for the authors site, many of the wallpapers posted there are works by kol (all the strange world walls). can you tell i'm a fan of his?

Frankly what I think most Windows users get frustrated about is that Mac users explain the security of Macs in terms relative to Windows. They describe how there are less viruses for Macs, you don't necessarily need AV software, etc. Windows users get mad in return because the security if Macs isn't tested on the same scale/scope that Windows is.
i agree with daiwa. civic is making it sound like, 'why would someone make a GUI interface change possible even though there may be a minor hiccup here and there.' and yes, per pixel windows not updating while being dragged is a MINOR hiccup. now i'm no OS-X fan, but the hacker was able to get in because SSH was enabled on the server. as an insecure feature, SSH is disabled out of the box. i love seeing these stories come out because i think the "security" of OS-X is highly overrated and due simply to a small market, but i just felt like this story could use a little perspective.
yes but it's foolish to only rely on one program's definitions. granted, you never want more than one AV program running at a time, with an infected system you must rely on multiple tools. no one program gets them all.

your mate would be wrong. many of us have used windowblinds for years, and it has never once interfered with updates. microsoft knows very well about windowblinds, they don't want to kill it (granted they don't like vista skins being posted). you haven't given near enough informaiton for anyone to help you in the least bit, but we can all tell you it isn't windowblinds conflicting with windows update.
it skins a game because from a programming standpoint, they would need a list of applications that are games and those that aren't games in order to determine what to skin or not to skin. doing this would result in unnecessary maintenance (adding/changing programs in the list), and many apps not being skinned or being skinned regardless of what they are because they aren't on the list. now THAT doesn't make much sense. <img src="http://images3.star
and i also wouldn't trust whatever "independent" testing group they get to verify their claim. if they were totally legit they would allow several testing groups (not chosen by themselves) to check it out
it would help if you told us more information about your system itself. i know i had similar issues until a fix was released in the (at the time) latest version of the radeon catalyst drivers. the more information you give us, the better. even if you think it's unnecessary and redundant it will help us rule out basic issues.
