So you'll never use them again basically unless you need to reinstall and don't have Impulse available for the download.
Best thing to do with Civ 5 which seems to be going with lots of DLC's is to wait for the "GOTY" edition which will be cheaper then the initial release and would most likely include all the DLC's so you won't get ripped off. Still have to deal with Steamworks but that is another thread. ;)
I too would wait for the demo if I were you based on the fact you said you find the Civ games hard to get into and understand. And Elemental in my opinion is more complicated then the Civ series. During beta 3 when I had time to do some testing I had FRAPS report fps well below 30 and while the fps reported pretty low the game itself still seemed smooth to me. Typically above 30 is what is needed for smooth BUT with Elemental similar to Civ 4 the low FPS to me usually only meant a bit of jerkiness when doing a quick pan of the screen. Normal gameplay seemed unaffected. So we'll see how it goes.

Overall the new site is pretty slick but these forums are painful. Light text on dark background is *very* hard to read and very quickly becomes fuzzy to the eye and gives headaches. PLEASE change this to a lighter background with darker text. Yea, that 9950 is almost 10 yr old technology now so it's certainly time for an upgrade. Since you can get an ATI HD4350 for just $35 there is no reason not too. Heck, you can get a current generation HD 5450 for under $50. Now neither are screaming gaming cards for today's top games but are generations better then the old 9550 card.
Love all these ideas. Especially Inn's being absorbed into a city as a special type of tavern. Maybe it would be similar to the one you can build but maybe a little something extra per turn.
Uninstalling and reinstalling help me not crash on world creation. And I saw a launcher at startup that I hadn't seen before. But yea, my fonts are all messed up. They seems like "generic" fonts from beta 2 and the text on the buttons are not centered for example. So I uninstalled, deleted any folder on my system for Elemental and nuked the registry of Elemental stuff. Reinstalled and the fonts are still weird. But the game does launch and seems to play

Beta 4. I'm trying to cycle thru all my units using the Tab key. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to cycle to the city as well and when it does that Tab cycling no longer works. So my question is, are you supposed to be able to cycle thru units using the Tab key?

Mine is doing the same thing, crashed at creating world in Beta 3C as well. I just uninstalled and am redownloading right now. I'll post if that works.

Note that I had this issue with 3B as well, just never got the time to get the crash reports. Basically I can't start a game. I get all the way thru selecting everything and it starts to create the world and "bong" (Windows error sound) and it's frozen, no error message. I can still move the mouse but can't bring up task manager, can't alt tab. Elemental background is still "playing", music is still going and the mouse still moves but I can't do anything else.
You can still download the entire game via Impulse right away and be playing before you get the actual box. :D
Do note that with advanced lighting turned off you can get a "lens flare" type effect a lot as noted in the other thread I posted in.
I personally have stopped bothering with the army game since there is no way I'll ever be top 10, I just can't do all the stuff the others are doing. So I've got some points and frankly that's all you need to be entered in for the random draws. So just one forum post is good enough for that.

I have the exact same graphical issues with total blur unless advanced lighting is turned off. Turn it off and I get the weird lighting distortion. The screenshots above are exactly what I see so I didn't include any. I also see the menu overlay issue when pulling up the save game menu. ATI 3870 with latest drivers. In Civ there was a small flashing message that said "Press Enter or click to end the turn" or something like that. It is a great indication that there are no more movement left. I'd like to see something like this in Elemental. Or maybe the end turn button glows or something. It's been a while but I don't remember what GalCiv 2 did to indicate it there were no more units to move and to click end of turn button. I personally don't like the auto-turn option
On the Digg thing, I dug some old stories that others did and points for mine were rejected while the others weren't. No big deal, just an FYI. Digg, Twitter and forum posts are about the only way I can earn points as I have no skills to do any of the other things like video's and whatnot.
