Does DL Purchase require Net connection for Reinstall? in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

I am leaning towards purchasing directly from Stardock, but I want to confirm how reinstalling in the future works. I understand the DL and serial number can be backed up to disk. Does it require an internet connection for future reinstalls? It always makes me nervous depending on a company to be there in the future to verify a reinstall. If something happens to the company, you're out of luck. I assume the retail CD does not require an internet connection? <br/
