I don't know want to mimimize the problems others have had with Impulse, but I have had zero problems. If you haven't tried it yet, you might want to check it out yourself.
know this because I have a problem with it recognizing that Twilight of the Arnor as being installed (Impulse thinks its not).
I was having this problem to, but logging into Impulse this evening, it updated itself and now recogizes TA. Now for my question- Is the new patch compatible with saves from the previous version (pre-zip patch from last week)?
The options for a developer using the virtual drive via the SDK to store save games, preferences and etc is interesting. I hope a local version of those would be stored as well for times when the server is unavailable due to upgrades, Internet problems and etc.
They mentioned in another thread that there are no game play changes and so there is no Read Me. They are cleaning up some back-end stuff and making it ready for the expansion. Tony
Thanks for the response, Kryo. I did have trouble registering, though I though it had finally gone through. When I try re-registering, it says the serial number is invalid. I'll wait until I see more info on the registration problems. Tony
Stardock Central shows 1.50.090 for Gal Civ II and 1.50 for DA. Gal Civ II was purchased directly from Stardock, DA is from the Gold pack purchased at Best Buy. Thanks! Tony
I have the retail version 1.50. Stardock Central shows it installed, and shows version .059 available, along with the update button. One of two things happens when I click on the upgrade button; 1. It will show "Waiting", count down from 3 several times, and finally show an exception error. 2. Sometimes, it will take me right to the purchase screen, which is obviously redundant. Tony
Just the CD. Tony
Try copy and pasting the serial number.
I believe part of the price point can be explained by the exchange rate to the dollar. I am very much looking forward to Dom 3. I think $55 is reasonable considering the huge amount of gameplay offered. I would prefer to buy fewer games but pay higher prices if I can get games like Gal Civ II and the Dominions series games that way, copared to the next installment of Doom or whatever. Tony
I couldn't disagree with ManoWar2 more. I love it, and think it is the best of the series, and I have been playing since Civ 1 was first released. If you only played 2 times, perhaps you missed some of the nuances of the game. I'm not looking for a long drawn out discussion or debate. I am just saying I personally am very happy with the game, have played all in the series heavily, and for that matter, graduated in with a degree in history. Just because the game is not comple
Wow, great feature list. I did not purchase the expansion to GalCivI as I am mostly a sandbox mode player and it did not seem to offer much to me. This expansion, however, looks like it will be awesome. I cant' wait! Tony
Do you know about the Wiki site? https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Galactic_Civilizations_Wiki
Ah, but in another post in the Wincustomize forums he did specifically say he is going to meet with Microsoft. Tony
Only facilities and bonuses affect production directly. Population directly affects income, so in the long run, you can buy production. Tony
Have you read the Journals here? Frogboy said he will be gone for about 3 weeks. Some family time in Texas, as well as a week at Microsoft. Tony
Yes, they repair just like ships. S-L-O-W-L-Y. Tony
There were changes made to the file/save structure during the betas, so if you have a game going that you want to finish, don't upgrade till you are done. Tony
Yes, there were changes made to the save process, so if you are playing a game you want to finish, do so before updating. Tony
Being very happy with GalCiv1 and GalCiv2, I browse Stardock's other products and ended up purchasing Object Desktop, Object Dock and a subscription to Wincustomize. I like them all, but Object Dock is my personal favorite. Tony

If you are worried about crashes, then yes, it is best to avoid betas in general. However, the current beta appears to be very stable and I have not had a single crash over several evenings of play. Our basic point in pointing out the beta was to tell the original poster his concern has been addressed, and if he wants to try it, how to check it out. The official release of the 1.1 patch will hopefully be this week. Tony
Research logistics. Tony
As Wade said, you can change this in the Options screen, but I think it is only an option in the upcoming 1.1 version, which is currently in beta. Tony
I voted no for a multiplayer expansion pack as well. I would prefer the development work be spent on enhancing the single player game, as that is all I will ever play. Tony
