Okay, I just loaded my faction - and the bright color might be my roof color. Maybe that didn't change anything in the previous version ? I think it is the faction that is changing the colors (in an odd total way), not the sovereign.

I don't remember selecting a custom color scheme ... Is that something that is accidentally easy to do ?
Ohh - one other thing, this was not a load from a saved game - this was a new game, using a custom sov and custom faction. (Sov created after patch, faction before the patch).
Click on civics I think, from the research screen, then clicked on town hall. After that, clicked on the back arrow and it crashed. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9186076/Elemental1_07-2010-09-02T23-09-53-230.zip This was rather early game - turn 40 from the dbug.err file included in the zip. No hang-ups or slow downs before the crash - other than an obser
simply put, rather late in game, and I tried to attack an enemy unit (tact combat) and the game crashed. Got a zip file, hopefully has everything you need. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9186076/Elemental1_06-2010-08-27T19-44-29-188.zip
Horrible title - but here's the gist of it. In the campaign (not sure if it matters) - I created a unit that cost some gold and 25 materials I was able to train one of them - but didn't have 50 materials, so the option to train 'grayed out'. I left the train selection open Hit next turn a few times. I noticed I had more than 25 materials again - but the button was still 'grayed out'. I tried selecting another unit and then back, and
I think it depends on where most of the CPU time is spent. If it is parsing the text, then pre-parsing should help. If it is creating the in-game objects - I'm not sure how pre-parsing will help. I suppose it could be easier to have a binary representation, if most of the objects are static - records/structures with lots of flat data. But if they are mostly pointers to lots of little things with more pointers, it can get difficult to save this off as binary data.&nbs
Of course you need tech. If you don't know how to properly burn down the city, then the citizens (of which your army is made up) will revolt. They require safe handling of all destructive materials before they will let you burn their homes and workplaces to the ground.
!! warning - random thoughts ahead - tread with strong defenses !! How about specialization tech ? Example - Town X can now make specific weapon Y at a reduced material cost. Each town could only specialize in one type of weapon/armor. Although - this would want us to be able to 'transport' weapons/armor from one city to another to train a better class of units. What is the current tech goal - Should the best path be the best use of 2 techs together, only 1 t
For some ideas, you can watch the game videos at http://gorstagg.wordpress.com/ Also there is a beta wiki - it is a little outdated, but still has useful information http://elementalbeta.wikidot.com/start My normal game strategy (only played a few games) Build workshop - or whatever it is that produces 1 material
I loaded my save game and tried playing again. Was hoping to get the Queen into a battle - but the town was attacked again, and the game crashed in tactical combat after I ended my first turn. All I did for first turn was to have every unit retreat as far as they could.
Was in battle, attacked/killed a unit, then clicked on end turned. Resulted in crash. Even with windows error manager disabled, I still do not have a dump file. I do have the dbug.err file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9186076/end%20turn%20crash/debug.err Also - before this battle - I noticed that my 'king' no longer leveled up. Was stuck on lvl 2 after killing over 7 units. A hired helper was able to lvl up after a sma
The text for Firestorm states 2xINT% - but only does 1 x int damage.
I've been told to report all alt-tab crashes - so here is my first one. FYI - I was able to play a few turns, alt-tab, return, and play some more.. but eventually my last alt-tab caused the crash. no dump collected (thanks Windows) I did have the debug.err file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9186076/alt_tab_crash/debug.err and last save file : <a href="
Are your archers mounted ? I believe I had one group of 'basic' archers, that I could use. Later on, I had mounted archers, and they seem to cause a crash every time I try to use them. However, don't quote me on this behavior, as my memory seems to be a bit fuzzy on when it 'worked'.
Battle was going fine - until I attempted to have my 4 mounted archers attack. Then it crashed to desktop.
My town had a spider nest right next too it. Even though my mage was decent at taking out the spiders, I didn't have the adventure tech to take it out. I failed to realize how soon the spiders would attack the city - so I sent my mage scouting around. Soon after, a spider destroyed my city. Somehow, I survived long enough to do the following: Due to the auto battles, my mage was casting a decent spell that killed lots of things. I couldn't cast the sa
Attached should be the location of the dump + error log. Prior to crash - The game started to seem a little laggy. For a few turns, I did not have sound (music stopped and sound effects stopped) - but sound returned before the crash. Here are links to two save files (previous and auto) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9186076/AutoSave.EleSav <a href="http://dl.dropbox.com/u
Stardock owns Elemental. Stardock owns Impulse. Why not let one help the other ? Currently, if we beta testers want to help with the beta development of Elemental regarding crashes - we have to upload the debug files to some random file sharing place (like dropbox). When we all used fogbugz, that wasn't a big deal, because we had one location we could all use with a simple click. With dropbox - we each have to set up an account, unde
In a way, this reminds me of the magic system in Dominions (2 and 3) - but maybe it is the other way around, dominions might remind me of Master of Magic. One thing that was interesting about dominions is that it can handle large scale battles (1000+ units) - however, you don't get to interact much with it. One thing I liked about Master of Magic was that there were so few heroes that you really paid attention to them. In Dominions, you end up with so many "heroes" that th

[quote who="Xeno_88" reply="6" id="2447860"] Quoting joasoze, reply 4 Your last suggestion have merit. I will try that. Your first will not work as no Windows key or any other key will be functional. That's odd. I haven't had to do it recently, but will try the next time a new build releases or I install something new. I have always been able to logout which minimizes everything, it should be possible as ZA is just waiting for you to make a decision and the program is waiting f
(windows XP, using zone-alarm as firewall - not sure how other software firewalls work) Every time a new patch comes out, I have to do the following. Hunt down the elemental .ini file Change the mode to windowed. Launch the game - after adjusting the firewall program, change back to full screen mode. If I fail to do this after a patch, the game blocks waiting for zone-alarm, and for some reason I cannot alt-tab - forcing me to reboot the pc, and then do t

I think an 'evil emperor' would make for an interesting faction. Basically - the people of the faction are completely against magic, and the channeler preaches against magic. However, the channeler is con-person, and uses magic frequently. However, to keep the people enraged against the 'other evil magic users', all spells used by the channeler are limited to those that cannot be witnessed by his/her own people / traced back to the channeler. It's not
