1.0 gave the same issue. I decided to try to beta NVidia drivers and have had success. I'm currently using the 310.33 beta ones (formerly using 302.59) and everything seems to be working well. Enjoying the release version of FE quite a bit!

Thanks for the suggestion Brad. I have to imagine that trying to bust all these types of bugs is the most annoying part of game development. Results: Test 1: Moving just the following bik files has no effect. Same crash at the same moment... Logo.bik StardockLogoBumper.bik TitleScreenBGMovie.bik Test 2: In addition to the above, also moved Intro.bik out. Still crashed, but got a little further - I could see the mai

*sigh* Still cannot get FE to run on my machine. Crashes out during the opening movie before the main menu even comes up. Beta 2 and 3 worked fine, everything since Beta 4 has had the same issue for me. I've tried the options others in the forums have suggested... deleting various folders from the FE directory in Documents/MyGames/FallenEnchantress and in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - Fallen Enchantress. Tried deleting those whole folders. Tried obliterating every trac

Update : Same issue with .98. Error files available at: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/101914071/FallenEnchantress0_980-2012-09-21T01-04-32-160.zip ******* All versions of FE prior to Beta 4 have worked without issue on my machine. All Beta 4 builds (.950, .951 and .952) will not launch. The opening splash screen will appear, the "stardock" opening movie will start to play, then a windows "failed to launch" dialog comes up. The opening movie will continue to pl

Ok, well, I think I found the xml: Basic tech tree (nothing in it): //Stardock Games/Elemental/data/English/CoreTechTree.xml The basic structure of the generic tech trees: //Stardock Games/Elemental/data/English/CoreTechs.xml But the real nitty gritty looks like it is supposed to be race specific. However, there are only two racial tech trees currently defined: //Stardock Games/Elemental/data/English/TechTreeAmarian.xml //Stardock Games/Elemental/data/E

I can look at individual techs in the Hiergamenon , but for a given tech, how can I tell which tech tree it belongs? If there is no way in-game, is there an xml file at least that one could look up/build a viewer for?

You can get it to run in other resolutions, kinda. Goto... My Documents/My Games/Elemental/Prefs.ini and change the DisplayWidth and DisplayHeight values to whatever you want. I set them to 800 x 600 and got Elemental to launch, though some of the UI was cut-off.

The way it works is that in tactical battles, you will want to click on the various opponents to see what special abilities they have. Really? We need to click on each unit to see what abilities they have? That seems so... mid-90's. Couldn't tactical combat open with a view of the battelfield/units and then a little popup screen called "Enemy Analysis" or something that shows an overview of which special abilities each unit has?
Anyways, to nobody in particular, since all life is inherently evil, and therefore damned, you end up sending the poor soul straight down. I doubt this, though, as God is fair and just, but you don't seem to get that. It is still killing the only living beings that have not comitted a sin.Isn't merely existing a sin?~Zoo
Indeed, Zoo brings up a point of confusion for me in this line of argument. Is Abortion wrong because it kills

"Really? You see a lot of people using public telephones? You see a lot of public telephones?" Suprisingly? Yes. Why, I just watched an NCIS marathon this weekend and in 37% of all cases, a public telephone was used by the criminal(s). You just can't argue with those kind of statistics! My source of data is at least as equally valid as the OP claim that casual sex causes intense psychological damage.

Me? I'm pro-abortion. That's right, not pro-choice, pro-abortion. There are too damn many people in the world, and a great many of them (in my experience) are idiots that couldn't reason their way out of a paper bag. Fewer babies means less stupid people. Of course the rest of humanity will die out from contracting a horrible disease from unsanitized public telephones, but, meh, whats ya gonna do?

It's fine, I'm running it that way now. You are actually quite safe running any windows app you want. The very worst that can happen is that you completely corrupt your xp installation. All you have to do then is to boot into Mac OS, delete your XP partion and create a new one.

Loving the Impulse so far. The Updates tab is great, as is the fact that the tab itself turns red when you have an update ready. Are people tending to use it in windowed or full-screen mode? The app "feels" like its designed to work best in windowed mode, IMO - the positioning of icons and text, etc.

Hmmm.... the office entrance seems pretty close to the media room. As the kids get older (and have friends over) that might make working at home somewhat difficult. In general though, the layout seems quite nice. Hard to tell looking at a 2D blueprint, but it seems like you are making an effort to "bring the outdoors in", which, IMO, goes a long way toward making a home livable. What kind of roofing are you going with for the covered part of the terra

It's been about a year since the last comment in this thread. How are people doing? Those that mentioned their savings plans, have you continued to save and invest? For those fearful of investing, have you made any changes? For what it is worth, here is the plan my family has followed for the last several years: 1) Document the current financial picture. If you don't know where every dollar is going, it's hard to make good decisions. 2) Put every available dollar into a sav

Charles, I believe Just John's comments are around flow from room-to-room. Most designers (and we realize that going the mainstream path is not what you are after) will use a centralizing concept where one (or more rooms) will have direct access to several other areas. This central area may be a family room/great room or a kitchen (or other room). Having good flow/direct access allows that family to not feel cut-off from each other. It also promotes easier interactions in social gather

Interesting list. Number 4 (being healthy) is one we don't usually see on similar articles in the press. A couple of questions: 1) If you had to force rank those items, would they appear in the order listed in the posting? 2) What importance would you place on the ability to find great people (employees) to round out the "starting team"? In other words, is the ability to build a strong team an essential attribute for an entrepenuer, or is that a required capability
